Family Night Party
Western Sussex Boys & Girls Club Family Night Christmas Party, Friday, Dec. 19, 7-9 p.m. Santa Claus will pay a visit to the party and there will be a Santa’s Secret Workshop from 7-8:30 p.m. Membership is not required to attend Family Nights each Friday night at the Boys & Girls Club and there is no admission fee.

Santa at Boys/Girls Club
Breakfast With Santa, Western Sussex Boys & Girls Club, Saturday, Dec. 20, from 9 a.m. to noon (parents must stay with children). Santa’s Secret Workshop (gifts for children to purchase) will also be open. Membership is not required and the event is open to all ages. New Year’s Party
Sussex County Senior Services, Inc./CHEER New Year’s Celebration on Tuesday, Dec. 30 from 10 a. m. to 2 p.m. at the CHEER Community Center located on the corner of Rt. 9 and Sand Hill Road in Georgetown. A meal will be served at noon. Sky Brady will be entertaining. Suggested donations for the meal are $4 for those age 60 and older or $5 for those under age 60. Reservations are necessary by calling April Willey at 856-5187.

Read Aloud Training
Read-Aloud Delaware volunteer training session, Thursday, Dec. 18, at 10 a.m. in the conference room of the Delaware National Bank, Rt. 1, Rehoboth Beach. Call 856-2527 to sign up for training or for further information. Volunteer readers are needed at various reading sites in Sussex County.

Laurel Toy Drive
Laurel Police Department is in the process of organizing a Toy Drive for the Christmas Holiday. Its goal is “No Kid Without A Toy For Christmas.” They will be working with school nurses to see that the toys go to families that are truly in need. LPD is asking for donations of new, unwrapped toys. Donations may be dropped off at the Laurel Police Department Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., or contact Sgt. Jamie Wilson at 875-2244. The drive will run until Dec. 23.

Toys for Tots
Coldwell Banker Broadcreek Realty, Regional Builders, Inc. and Long & Foster are local drop-off points for the Toys for Tots program. This program, conducted by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, collects and distributes toys to needy children. Donations of new, unwrapped, non-violent gifts will be distributed to underprivileged children in Sussex County.
Mistletoe Scavenger Hunt, Saturday, Dec. 20, 1 p.m. This will be the sixth annual hunt. Follow clues to hunt for this holiday plant. Clothing and shoes that can get muddy are recommended.

Winter Solstice Hike, Monday, Dec. 22, 10 a.m. A walk around the Boundary Trail and learn what a solstice is, why it occurs, and the myths surrounding it.
