ROADWAY REOPENS - The Galestown causeway reopened Tuesday afternoon. Linda R. Walls, president of the Galestown Millpond Association, said she drove across the causeway both ways and beeped her horn in celebration. "After two years and one month, we have a better structure complete with a sidewalk for community strolling, exercise, gazing at the millpond and fishing. The new lights will be arriving and installed in a few weeks. Most importantly, we have all joined in this common cause and have strengthened our sense of community. I hope that the new walkway becomes an opportunity for neighbors to frequent the millpond and make many new memories for generations to come." The causeway was washed out June 25, 2006. From 13 to 15 inches of rain fell that morning, washing out dozens of roads in the Maryland and Delaware area around Seaford. At top is the new causeway that is now open to traffic.
