Dr. Padilla receives certification
Francisco Padilla, MD, ECNU, of the Nanticoke Physician Network, has received his Endocrine Certification in Neck Ultrasound (ECNU) from the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE).
Dr. Padilla is the first and only endocrinologist in Delaware to earn this professional certification. Dr. Padilla sees patients at the Nanticoke Center for Diabetes & Endocrinology, located at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford.
Dr. Padilla completed his residency through the University of Connecticut (UConn) Primary Care Internal Medicine Residency Program at New Britain General Hospital in New Britain, Conn. He also completed his fellowship through UConn at the UConn Health Center in Farmington, Conn. He is board certified in endocrinology and internal medicine.
Diabetes Education Program
Nanticoke Memorial Hospital will hold a four-session diabetes educational program, The Diabetes Connection, on May 11, 18, 25, and June 1 from 5-7 p.m. The cost of the program may be reimbursable by insurance. As a person with diabetes, Nanticoke Health Services can be part of your healthcare team to help teach you the self-care skills needed to keep you on track. Our four-session diabetic program includes weekly education sessions in a group setting.One family member or significant other is welcome to attend.

DE-feet Breast Cancer 5K Run/Walk
The Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition (DBCC) is pleased to announce the Seventh Annual DE-feet Breast Cancer 5K Run/Walk will take place at the Tanger Outlet Center (Seaside) in Rehoboth Beach on Sunday, May 22. This year's race is produced by Races2Run, and sponsored in part by Tanger Outlets.
The Run/Walk is a family-friendly event open to participants of all ages. All money raised will benefit DBCC's programs and services to support those touched by breast cancer in Delaware and the surrounding communities. The Seventh Annual DE-feet Breast Cancer Run/Walk will be held (rain or shine) at the Tanger Outlet Center's Seaside location and will follow a 5K course that will loop through part of the Breakwater Trail.

Lymphedema support group
Nanticoke Memorial Hospital will host a lymphedema support group on Thursday, May19 at the Seaford Library and Cultural Center from 1:30-3 p.m. The topic will be self care.Nanticoke offers childbirth classes
This free support group is open to anyone affected by lymphedema including patients, caregivers, and relatives. Meetings will consist of a lecture by health care professionals and medical equipment providers followed by refreshments and an open question and answer session or discussion amongparticipants.

Nanticoke Memorial Hospital offers childbirth classes on Thursdays from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the Ground Floor Conference Room.
The class will meet each Thursday for a total of five weeks four weeks related to childbirth education and the fifth week will be a breastfeeding class.
The next session will be held on May 19, 26, June 2, 9, 16.
The maternity education classes are designed to offer information, counseling, support, and hands-on experience to help prepare for a new family member. They will cover pregnancy in general, information to prepare the expectant mother for labor and delivery, and will include a tour of Nanticoke Memorial Hospital's Mother Baby Care Unit.
A refresher course is also available for those who have previously taken childbirth classes. The refresher class covers breathing techniques, signs, symptoms, and stages of labor, birthing options, and a tour of Nanticoke's Mother Baby Care Unit.
v The cost of the childbirth course is $50, and the cost for the refresher course is $25. Mothers are encouraged to bring their partner or support person for all courses. Registration in advance is required for either class. To register, or for more information, call 629-6611, ext. 2540.
Dinner auction raises over $140,000
On Saturday, April 16, the night was an 'Evening of Elegance' at Nanticoke Health Services' 30th Annual Dinner Auction. The sold out event featured plenty of fine food, entertainment, and silent and live auctions. With Jimmy Hoppa from WBOC serving as the emcee for the evening, the event raised over $140,000 to benefit the Nanticoke Cancer Care Center.
The live auction was led by Don Moore. Auction items included a Maui vacation, a 3-digit PC Delaware license plate, autographed sports memorabilia, a Chesapeake Bay Experience, and much more.
This year's sponsors included Platinum Sponsors, Cerner Corporation and PNC Bank, and several additional supporters in the Pearl, Lily, Soiree, Twilight, Rendezvous and Celebration sponsorship categories.
Longtime supporters of Nanticoke Health Services and previous chairs of the dinner auction, Nancy S. Brown and Nancy Marsh Cook, received the Charlotte L. Cannon 2016 Honorary Chair Award at this year's event.
Over the past 30 years, the Nanticoke Dinner Auction has raised over $1,574,000 to benefit Nanticoke Health Services. Plans are already in progress for the 31st Annual Dinner Auction, scheduled for Saturday, April 8, 2017.
Stroke Support Group
Nanticoke Memorial Hospital will host a Stroke Support Group on Tuesday, May 17 from 1:30-3:30 p.m. at the Seaford Library & Cultural Center.
The two-hour support group meetings consists of guest speakers and breakaway sessions in which caregivers and stroke survivors meet in groups to discuss concerns, providing support and networking. Refreshments will be provided.
This support group is designed for individuals who have survived a stroke as well as their families, friends, and caregivers.

Nanticoke Health Services is dedicating the week of Monday, May 2 to Friday, May 6 to its registered nurses and clinical support staff. As part of its inaugural Nurses & Clinical Support Week, Nanticoke will highlight the diverse ways in which its registered nurses and clinical support staff are working to improve health care in Sussex County. Throughout the week, Nanticoke will host fun, engaging activities and giveaways. Nanticoke Health Services salutes all those in the nursing and clinical support fields.
