Nanticoke Weight Loss to host Believe to Achieve 5K fun run/walk Nanticoke Weight Loss and General Surgery will host their Second Annual 5k fun run/walk on Saturday, Oct. 28 at 10 a.m. at the Hoopers Landing Fitness Trail in Seaford. This event is a fun run/walk for weight loss patients and their family and friends and is appropriate for all ages and fitness levels. The Hoopers Landing Fitness Trail is located around the perimeter of the Hoopers Landing Golf Course at 1019 Locust Street in Seaford. Online pre-registration will be open from Oct. 1-26 at Cost to participate is $15 which includes an event t-shirt. Late registrations or day-of registrations will also be $15, but t-shirts will be limited to sizes on hand. Registration and check-in begins at 9 a.m. and the 5k walk/run begins at 10 a.m. Strollers are allowed, but will be asked to line up in the rear. Nanticoke Weight Loss and General Surgery would like to thank the city of Seaford, Hoopers Landing Golf Course, the Seaford Community Swim Center and the Seaford School District for their support. Free weight loss seminars Nanticoke Weight Loss & General Surgery will host free weight loss seminars on Saturday, Sept. 23 at 10:30 a.m., at the Nanticoke Training Center located in the Miller Building at 121 S. Front St., Seaford. These seminars are designed to provide education to individuals considering weight loss surgery to help them make informed decisions on whether surgery is an appropriate option. The seminars will consist of educational presentations by Dr. Tarek Waked to inform individuals about the many benefits of weight loss surgery.

Childbirth classes offered Nanticoke Memorial Hospital offers maternity education classes on Thursdays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Ground Floor Conference Room. The class meets each Thursday for a total of five weeks Ð four weeks related to childbirth education and the fifth week focused on breastfeeding. Classes are offered: Sept. 21 and 28; Oct. 5, 12, 19, 26, and Nov. 2; and Nov. 14, 21, 28, Dec. 5, and 12 (Tuesdays) The maternity education classes are designed to offer information, counseling, support, and hands-on experience to help prepare for a new family member. They will cover pregnancy in general, information to prepare the expectant mother for labor and delivery, and will include a tour of Nanticokes Mother & Baby Care Center. A refresher course is also available for those who have previously taken childbirth classes. The cost of the childbirth course is $50, and the cost for the refresher course is $25. Mothers are encouraged to bring their partner or support person for all courses. Pre-registration is required for either class.
