Community Concert fall season The Seaford Community Concert Association will open its fall season on Sept. 23 with An Evening with Hal Linden. The Broadway actor and star of the television show "Barney Miller" will present a sophisticated cabaret-style variety show with popular music from Las Vegas to Broadway as well as amusing stories from his career. The Diamonds will bring classic rock and roll to the stage on Oct. 24. Jesse Lynch's Jazz 101 will be featured on Feb. 11, 2014. The jazz combo will perform the music of Scott Joplin, Louis Armstrong and other jazz greats. Richter Uzer will perform on Sunday, March 9, at 3 p.m., bringing a whimsical blend of classical, world and rock music to the stage. On April 15, the New York Theatre Ballet will perform. This group has been called "a miniature American treasure" by "Dance Magazine." Start time for all concerts is 7:30 p.m. except for the Sunday performance at 3 p.m. All of the concerts will be held in the Seaford Senior High School in Seaford. Woodland Ferry Festival The Woodland Ferry Festival will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14, in the historic community of Woodland. The "Battle of the Bands" between Seaford and Laurel High schools will take place on the ferry. Museum features Ida May exhibit Artifacts from the reconstruction project of the skipjack Ida May are now on display at the Bethel Heritage Museum. The exhibit focuses on the 1906 skipjack Ida May, which was restored by the Gladden brothers, Gordon and Elbert, from 2006 to 2011. The Ida May exhibit consists of artifacts and a documentary chronicling the renovation of the skipjack. AARP offers bus trip Caroline County AARP is offering a bus trip to see the Miracle of Christmas at the Millennium Theatre on Friday, Dec. 6 in Lancaster, Pa. Winter Cruise Getaway Once again, Dr. Marie Wolfgang is sponsoring a 10 night cruise as a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life. Pettyjohn to hold meetings Sen. Brian Pettyjohn (R-Georgetown) has announced that he will host a monthly "Coffee with Constituents" meeting. The Senator encourages District 19 residents to stop by to ask a question or share a concern on issues relating to the district or state government. The meetings will take place on the third Saturday of every month, between 8 and 10 a.m. with the location rotating between Bridgeville, Georgetown and Long Neck.
