Kiwanis Foundation Golf Tournament The Seaford Kiwanis Club will hold its 28th Annual Foundation Golf Tournament on Friday, June 13, at Hooper's Landing Golf Course. Proceeds benefit the Club's Foundation endowment which provides scholarships for deserving senior students each year. Any business wishing to sponsor a special event or donate a door prize is encouraged to participate. Anyone wishing to play should register immediately. The entry fee of $85 will include buffet lunch, a round of golf and cart, hospitality cart and an awards party. Every participant will receive a bag of goodies and one of numerous door prizes. Awards up to $400 for the winners and certificates for closest to the pin and straightest drive, putting and pitching will be available to all golfers. Community Yard Sale Malihorn Crest will hold a Community Yard Sale on Saturday, June 14 beginning at 7 a.m. The neighborhood is located two miles southwest of Seaford just off Woodland Road.

Grand Old Gospel Concert Join us on Saturday, June 14, at the Nanticoke Senior Center in Seaford for a night of laughter and song at the Grand Old Gospel Concert. Returning this year will be Donnie Sumner, Dove Award winner, Gospel Music Hall of Fame inductee and former Elvis Presley aide and back-up singer. Also appearing will be Recording Artist Thom Slaughter and Award-winning Singer-Songwriter Jerry Jones. Jimmy Hoppa, WBOC-TV16 news anchor and Delmarva Life host, will serve as master of ceremonies. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the concert starts at 7. Seaford Block Watch Meeting Seaford Block Watch will hold a meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, June 16, at City Hall (use the ramp entrance). The program is at 7 p.m. and will feature the Seaford Police Department who will give tips for the older driver. The program is open to anyone who would like driving tips. Yard Sale at Hebron Lodge On Saturday, June 21, there will be an inside/outside yard sale at Hebron Lodge #14 of The Independent Order of Odd Fellows. This lodge is located on the back section of the property of the Odd Fellows Cemetery located across from Seaford Middle School. The yard sale will be from 8 a.m. to noon. Breakfast sandwiches, pastries and drinks will be available for sale. Rental space is available inside or outside for $5 if you bring your own table. A limited number of 8 foot and 10 foot tables can be rented for $10. All spaces and tables are on a first come, first served basis. If you select an inside location, you may set up on Friday evening. Eming's Barbecue Chicken Dinner Bethel Community House located at 2381 Neal's School Rd., Seaford, will hold a Barbecue Chicken Dinner featuring Eming's Barbecue from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 21. Senior Center Quarter Auction Nanticoke Senior Center will hold its third Quarter Auction on Thursday, June 26. Doors will open at 6 p.m., and the auction will begin at 7. Bring rolls of quarters to bid on great prizes from various vendors. There will also be a special drawing, door prizes, a 50/50 and a silent auction. Tickets are available at the door for $5 per person. With your ticket, you get one paddle for the auction; additional paddles will be available that evening for $3 each. Manor House Car Show The Manor House Car Show will be held on Friday, June 27. Registration is from 12:30 to 1 p.m. and the event is from 1 to 4. Display your vintage or classic car on the Manor House front lot. Prizes will be awarded. Woodland Ferry Festival The 18th Woodland Ferry Festival will take place in the historic community of Woodland, west of Seaford, on Saturday, Sept. 13 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be free pedestrian rides on the ferry, the "Tina Fallon," throughout the festival. The ferry will be closed to vehicular traffic during this time. Live entertainment begins at 10 a.m. with the Good News Tour, a favorite local gospel group. From noon until 2 p.m. the headliners, the Jones Boys Band will perform. Charlie Paparella and the Olivet Church String Band return with their folksy humor and variety of songs. More surprise performers are being invited to join in the fun. There will be several food vendors offering a wide variety of food. Frank-N-Burger, Blazen Grille and the Seaford Oddfellows will return with Abbott's on Broad Creek joining them. Craft/business vendors, exhibitors and demonstrators such as For Woodness Sake will be on hand to show or sell their wares. The Woodland Ferry Association will sell ice cream and souvenirs and hold their traditional Silent Auction. 'Balling For God' tournament The Youth Outreach Team of New Zion United Methodist Church is hosting its 10th Annual "Balling for God" Basketball Tournament and Block Party from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 14, on Webb Avenue in Laurel. There are four players per team; age brackets are 6-8, 9-11, 12-14 and 15-18. All players will need a signed permission slip to play. Museum welcomes pottery exhibit The Bethel Historical Society welcomes a visiting exhibit of quality handmade pottery from the Eldreth Pottery Company in Lancaster County, Pa., to the Bethel Museum. This company has produced beautiful salt-glazed stoneware and redware pottery for more than 25 years. The majority of their pottery is produced using traditional Pennsylvania German production methods. This exhibit features a wide selection of traditional and contemporary pottery including personalized pottery, birdhouses, dinnerware, vases, bowls, jugs, cast items and one of kind pieces. The Eldreth Pottery Company has designed exquisite works of art, several of which are now a part of the permanent White House collection. Several items will be available for sale. The exhibit will be open June 22 from 2 to 4 p.m. Permanent exhibits about ship building in historic Bethel will also be open.

VFW plans Rosie the Riveter tribute Since summer is a season of patriotic holidays, the Ladies Auxiliary of Greenwood Memorial VFW Post 7478 is hosting a tribute to Rosie the Riveter on Saturday, June 21 from 2 to 4 p.m. Rosie the Riveter is the iconic female worker in the WWII plants and factories of the WWII war effort. Dr. Darlene Spitzer-Antezana, chairman of the Department of History at Prince George's Community College (Maryland) will give an overview of Rosie's significance in American history. The Sweet Adelines, a female barbershop quartet, will sing patriotic songs and a few WWII era songs. There will be refreshments and a freewill offering for the musical group. For people who come dressed as Rosie the Riveter, there will be a Look-alike contest with a $50 prize for the winner. The public is welcome. Library moving to new location The Greenwood Public Library's current location on Sussex Highway is closed, in order to move to its new facility on Mill Street in Greenwood. The move to the new library is estimated to take about 6 weeks, and a grand opening is anticipated in late June. During the closure, the outside book drop will be available for patrons to return their items. It will remain at the old location for a short length of time until it is moved to its new home on Mill Street. Patrons may also return items to any other library in the area. Safe Boating Class The Nanticoke River Sail and Power Squadron Safe Boating Class will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 14. The class will be held at the Nanticoke River Yacht Club at the Marina in Blades. This class is a Boat Delaware course taught by Nanticoke River Sail & Power Squadron instructors.

Antique Show and Sale An Antique & ollectibles Show and Sale will be held at the Federalsburg Area Heritage Museum from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 14. Expect to find a wide variety of antiques and collectibles at this annual event sponsored by the Federalsburg Historical Society. Admission to the show is $2. 'Art in the Park' in Millsboro Millsboro Art League (MAL) will hold its first Outdoor Art Show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 14 in Cupola Park, a waterfront park at the eastern entrance to Millsboro Town Center. Artists will display their work and MAL will host an information tent where people can learn about membership, programs and children's Summer Camp. MAL members will also display and sell art work at this tent. Children can express their creativity with supplies and instruction by MAL members. Annual Car, Truck, & Bike Show CHEER's Annual Classic Car, Truck & Bike event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 14, at the CHEER Community Center located at 20520 Sand Hill Road, Georgetown. The day will feature the display of many different vehicles, a 50/50 raffle, a live and silent auction, entertainment and food and craft vendors. CHEER's famous Gala Brunch will also be held. Tickets for the brunch, which are $25, can be purchased at the door. Radio personality Bill Colly of WGMD, 92.7 FM is scheduled to do a two hour remote location broadcast from 10 a.m. to noon. This year's event will showcase the 50th anniversary of the car, the Mustang. This event is free and open to the public. Children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult. The second part of the day begins at 5 p.m. at the CHEER Community Center where you will enjoy an evening of Doo Wop. Take a trip back to yesterday's greatest hits with The Jersey Jukebox and The Del Angels. Cut a rug and enjoy the concession stand featuring burgers, onion rings and milkshakes along with other foods straight out of an episode of Happy Days. Visit the Dickinson Plantation During the month of June, the John Dickinson Plantation, located at 340 Kitts Hummock Rd., Dover, will present special programs that explore different aspects of everyday life as it would have been lived during the 18th century when John Dickinson, one of the founding fathers of the United States, was in residence at the property. Auditions for fall musical Auditions for Second Street Players fall 2014 production of Sweeney Todd will be held on June 14-16. Heroes Haven Crab Feast A crab feast will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 28, at the Sharptown Firemen's Memorial Building to benefit Heroes Haven, a local program that brings wounded heroes from Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and other locations to the Eastern Shore for hunting and hospitality.
