FCC Amateur Tech license class Sussex County Amateur Radio Emergency Service (Sussex County ARES) is sponsoring a two day FCC Amateur (Ham) Radio Technician license preparation class at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, Seaford. Kiwanis offers scholarships The Kiwanis Club of Seaford will be offering three scholarships to graduating seniors residing within the boundaries of the Seaford School District or attending Seaford High School. Two scholarships are funded by the Seaford Kiwanis Foundation and will be $4,000 each. The third scholarship for $4,000 is funded by the Seaford Kiwanis Foundation and the Janosik Foundation. Hearts for Hope Benefit gala The annual Hearts for Hope Benefit Dinner Dance and Silent Auction will be held at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25, at the Laurel Fire Hall on Tenth Street, Laurel. Donald Carmean Benefit A benefit will be held for Donald on March 11 at the Laurel American Legion Post #19. Donald has been diagnosed with two types of cancer (mantle cell lymphoma and small cell lung cancer); the aggressive chemotherapy in an attempt to battle these life threaening illnesses has caused other debilitating issues as well. Donald has dedicated most of his life to helping others. New Fine Art Exhibit The Bethel Museum invites you to view original art work by the faculty and alumni of the Department of Fine Arts at the University of Maryland, Eastern Shore. This visiting exhibit features blown glass, ceramics, archival digital photography, pen and ink, colored silver gelatin prints, and more. The museum is fortunate to have such a variety of fine art work to see and enjoy. Nine artists are participating, and some of their art work will be for sale. This exhibit ends at the end of March. Located at 312 First St., Bethel, the Bethel Museum is open from 2 to 4 p.m. on the second and fourth Sundays of each month. The permanent exhibits showing the development of the maritime industry in Bethel during the 1800s, including three and four masted sailing ships, will also be open along with some history of the Nanticoke Indians who lived along Broad Creek hundreds of years ago.

Ark Trip On Sept. 23-27 there will be a trip to Williamstown, KY to Ark Encounter. The Ark is built to the approximate measurements of Noahs Ark, which makes it one and a half football fields in length and taller than a four story house.
