Spay/Neuter Clinic Homeless Cat Helpers, a non-profit, all volunteer organization, holds a low-cost spay/neuter clinic for stray cats, low-income pet cats and feral cat colonies two Fridays a month in Seaford. The next dates are Friday, Sept. 22 and Friday, Oct. 13 (special- black cats are free on Friday the 13th!). Cost is $79 for a female and $46 for a male. Country music exhibit at museum A Tribute to Country Music Exhibit is at the Seaford Museum at 203 High St., Seaford, through the end of September.The display features items, pictures, full size figures, and memorabilia of national and local country musicians and artists.Also featured are displays by Mid-South Audio Recording Studios in Georgetown and WAAI FM Radio in Federalsburg, Md. Along with these exhibits are several Up Close Concerts in the Starlight Room of the Nanticoke Maritime Gallery at the Seaford Museum usually costing $10 a person.Several concerts have first and second seating arrangements depending on ticket sales online at the Historical Societys website and at the front desk at the Seaford Museum. This exhibit is an extension and enlargement of the country music collection of Thresa Allen, the producer of several recent country music local shows. The Jones Boys will end the exhibit with a concert on Sunday, Oct. 1.
Kids Coloring Contest To celebrate Public Power Week, the city of Seaford in partnership with the Delaware Municipal Electric Corporation (DEMEC) is inviting children ages 5 to 9, whose parent(s) or guardian(s) are city of Seaford utility customers, to participate in the city of Seaford Kids Coloring Contest. Those who enter have a chance to win a prize package including a Family Four-Pack of tickets to the Delaware Childrens Museum, coloring books, stickers, a water color paint book and more. Children are encouraged to have fun expressing their talents while using their choice of coloring supplies. Crayons, markers, colored pencils or paint - there are no limitations when it comes to color. One winner will be selected and featured on the City of Seaford and DEMECs websites and social media pages. Harvest Moon Party Celebrate fall at the Harvest Moon Party, the Nanticoke Senior Centers largest fundraiser, on Saturday, Oct. 7 from 4 to 9 p.m., at Hoopers Landing in Seaford. Enjoy a full buffet, cash bar and bid on Chinese silent auction items. Dance the night away to the seven piece high energy dance band, Chasin Time, while sipping apple pie moonshine. Other activities include a putting contest for $5 from 5 to 7 p.m. A cornhole tournament starts at 6 p.m. Cost is $20 per team, 75 percent payout. Tournament registration starts at 5. Sewing classes Sign up for sewing classes at Butlers Sewing Center in the Nylon Capital Shopping Center in Seaford. The classes will benefit the beginners as well as the more experienced.
