Spaghetti dinner VFW Auxiliary Post 4961, 9767 Middleford Rd., Seaford, will hold an all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 25. Adults are $8, children ages 12 and under are $6.

Free tax returns The AARP Tax-Aide program will be preparing free tax returns at the Seaford Elks Club for the 2017 tax season. IRS certified counselors will be available to prepare returns starting Feb. 7, and every Wednesday until April 4. Appointments are required and can be made by calling Pat James at 245-2320. Taxpayers are required to show a government issued photo ID plus their social security card(s). Please bring your 2017 tax information and your 2016 tax return.

Seaford Gallery 107 classes The following classes are scheduled for February at Seaford Gallery 107. Details are provided online at nanticokeriverartscouncil.org/Classes.html. The Gallery, which is located at 324 High St., Seaford, is open on Thursdays and Fridays from 1 to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Classes are conducted around the corner at 105 Pine St. Special classes: Saturday, Feb. 10, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. - Childrens Art Class with Karen Owens, ages 6-9, $40, includes supplies and light lunch. Transportation for veterans In Sussex County there are several transportation opportunities available for our veterans. One of them is located in Seaford. This eight passenger van carries veterans to and from the VA Hospital in Elsmere and to and from the VA Clinic in Dover. It tries to operate on Mondays and Wednesdays but will transport at other times if needed. If you need this transportation, call the dispatcher at 302-858-7588.

Basket Bingo The Seaford Lions Club will hold a Longaberger Basket Bingo at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 25, 2018, at the Seaford Moose Lodge, Rt. 13A, Seaford. The Basket Bingo will consist of 20 games and will feature several Longaberger baskets as prizes. Advance tickets are $20 per person, $25 at the door. Advance ticket includes a chance to win the Longaberger large wreath basket. Attendees are encouraged to donate a gently used pair of prescription eyewear to support the Lions Recycle For Sight initiative. A special drawing will be held for everyone who donates eyewear. Free computer training Learn basic and intermediate computer and information processing skills using computer assisted tutorials. Topics include computer basics, Microsoft Office, Internet search applications, email and more. A facilitator is available to get you started and answer questions. Prior computer experience is helpful but not required. Sessions are held Tuesdays from 2-4 p.m., in the Nason Room at the Seaford District Library from Jan. 2 through April 24, 2018. Essential Oils Make and Take The Laurel Public Library is hosting Essential Oils Make and Take on Saturday, Jan. 20. The program features doTERRA Wellness Advocate explaining the basics of essential oils and the opportunity for attendees to make a sample of an essential oil. Quarter Auction A quarter auction will take place Jan. 26 at the Laurel Fire Hall, with doors opening at 6 p.m/ and the auction starting promptly at 7 p.m. Ticket is $5 including one paddle and each additional paddle will be $3. Laurel Lions Pizza Night Laurel Lion Pizza Night will take place on the first Tuesday evening of each month from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Laurel Pizzeria. Ten percent of each check will be donated to the club. Check at the register for a coupon or ask and 10 percent will be donated to the Laurel Lions Club. Fishing Expo The Big Mouth Lures will sponsor a fishing expo Saturday, Feb. 3 at the Laurel Fire Hall from 7 a.m.-2 p.m. You can buy, sell, and trade all types of fishing equipment. Laurel Library fundraiser On every fourth Tuesday evening, from 5-9 pm, the Friends of the Laurel Public Library have a 10 percent night at the Laurel Pizzeria. By presenting a coupon (found at the cash register) along with the check, the Friends receive 10 percent of the amount. This money is then used to support activities for the young people of our community. Help the non-profit group, The Friends of the Laurel Library, provide great programming for our young people.

Bridgeville Library Library closed - The library will be closed on Monday, Jan. 15. Self-Directed Exercise Sessions - Beginning, Jan. 2, join us at the library for our new self-directed exercise sessions from 6-6:45 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. All sessions are subject to other programming, but we will have a calendar available so you can plan accordingly. DVDs will be played to help lead you to your health goals. Grilled Pork Chop Dinner Join the Delmar VFW Auxiliary for a Grilled Pork Chop Dinner from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 12, at the VFW Post, 200 W. State St., Delmar, Md. Everyone is welcome. The menu will include a large grilled pork chop, a tossed salad with choice of dressings, a baked potato with butter and/or sour cream, succotash, and a dinner roll for $12. 2018 Watermelon Queen The Mar-Del Watermelon Association is looking for young women to enter their pageant to select the 2018 Mar-Del Watermelon Queen who is a public spokesperson for the watermelon industry. Imagination Library donation The Caroline County Public Library has partnered with Dolly Partons Imagination Library to provide a specially selected book each month for a preschool child until their fifth birthday. Sewing classes Sign up for sewing classes at Butlers Sewing Center in the Nylon Capital Shopping Center in Seaford. The classes will benefit the beginners as well as the more experienced. Fight against illegal drugs The Sussex County Action Prevention Coalition (SCAPC) meets the first Tuesday of each month at 10 a.m. at the Lighted Pathway Building, 425 E. Stein Hwy., Seaford. The group is dedicated to the prevention of substance abuse, addictions and other life related problems. Their vision is to ensure that the residents of Sussex County have access to the resources, services, and prevention needed and to implement strategies that will result in the reduction of the abuse and misuse of alcohol, tobacco, and other substances.
