Adult Bible study group begins
St. Luke's episcopal Church in Seaford adult Bible study group is beginning a new 5-week DVD series entitled "In the Dust of the Rabbi." The DVD presentation takes viewers to archaeological sites few people ever see and where historical contexts of the Bible take on powerful relevance for present-day believers. The group meets at the home of Bill and Aileen Watkins on Friday evenings at 7 p.m. and the public is invited to attend. For information and directions call 629-9232.

Latin Mass February 19
A Latin mass according to the Missal of 1962 is celebrated on the third Sunday of every month at 3 p.m. at Holy Cross Church in Dover. The mass will be celebrated on Feb. 19. The mass is always a Missa Cantata using traditional Gregorian chant. For further information, call 302-674-5781.

Shrove Tuesday supper
All-you-can-eat Shrove Tuesday pancake and sausage supper, Feb. 28, at All Saints Episcopal Church, 10th Street, Delmar, Del., 4 to 7 p.m.

Seaford Lenten Services
The Greater Seaford Ministerium announces the schedule for the Lenten Services beginning on March 1, Ash Wednesday. These services, held for six consecutive Wednesdays, begin at noon and are followed by a light lunch. Call the Rev. Drew Christian, ministerium president, for more information at 629-2862. Mt. Calvary UMC Pew Rally
There will be a Pew Rally on Sunday, Feb. 19, at 11 a.m., at Mt. Calvary United Methodist Church, 28 Church St., Bridgeville. Guest preacher will be the Rev. Purnell A. Moody of Wilmington. There will be a free will offering. A fellowship meal will follow the service which is sponsored by the 135th church anniversary committee. The Rev. Terrance Briggs is the pastor.

IMPACT 2006 will draw 4,000
More than 4,000 High School students and youth group leaders from Maryland and surrounding states are expected to attend IMPACT 2006: The Encounter High School Youth Conference, from Friday, March 24 through Sunday, March 26, at the Ocean City Convention Center in Maryland. IMPACT 2006: The Encounter will feature a variety of national speakers and entertainers including Reggie Dabbs, who with humor and compassion drives home the fact that "you canst change your past, but you can change your future." Dabbs will speak about drugs, alcohol, suicide and many more issues that high school students are bombarded with daily. Approximately 15 workshops will be available that focus on providing teens with tools to help them with their spiritual growth and to deal with issues that they face daily. The encounter adult seminars and training will include:

  • Fil Anderson - Running on Empty author and executive director of Journey Resources.
  • Walt Mueller - founder of CYPU (The Center for Parent/Youth Understanding), an organization committed to building strong families and helping to bridge the gap between teenagers and parents.
