Gospel Cafe Every Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m. there is a Gospel Cafe in the Fellowship Hall at Laurel Baptist Church. Free Christian entertainment, live bands, local talent.Everyone is welcome. The church is located at 33056 Bi-State Blvd., Laurel.

Community Day at Church of God The Seaford Clarence St. Church of God is hosting its 7th annual Community Day Event on Saturday, May 21, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Food and beverages will be provided. Admission is free. Bring your own lawn chair. There will be activities for everyone including games, contests, fingerprinting, face painting, door prizes, giveaways, cultural displays, health booths and youth group exhibits. Entertainment includes praise dancers, poetry reading, a jazz ensemble, a step team andmusical selections. Special features will "include the blessing of the bikes," a canine demo, a motorcycle show, the Belvedere Volunteer Fire Department of Wilmington, the Sussex County Sheriff Dept. and a presentation from the Star Hill AME Museum. Chorale concert Laurel Wesleyan Church presents Bethany Bible College Chorale live in concert at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 12. Admission is free and a love offering will be received. Banquet at Liberating Power Liberating Power A.M.E. Zion Church in Bridgeville is holding an Appreciation Banquet honoring Pat Reginald Chandler and Rev. Shameka Chandler. 'Balling For God' The Community Outreach Team of New Zion United Methodist Church is hosting its 7th Annual "Balling for God" Basketball Tournament and Block Party. This event will take place on Saturday, May 28, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., on Webb Avenue in Laurel. Teams are now forming; age brackets are 6-8, 9-11, 12-14, 15-19 and 20 and up. Annual Spring Concert The annual spring concert at Old Christ Church will be held on Sunday, May 15 at 3 p.m. Scheduled performers are the Southern Delaware Choral Society Ensemble who will perform four gospel selections; Hannah Goebel, pianist; Samantha Fellner, flutist; Rose McFassel, soprano; Rita Meadows, violinist; and Richard Freeman, tenor. Join us for a delightful musical afternoon in a tranquil setting. Centenary hosts storyteller On Sunday, May 22, Centenary UMC, located at the corner of Market and Poplar Streets in Laurel, will hold only one worship service at 10 a.m.Special guest, Hannah Shively, storyteller/dramatist, will present a drama entitled, "The Hat." A love offering will be taken. All are welcome.

Girl Guard/Sunbeam Camp The Salvation Army in Seaford invites all girls entering 3rd through 12th grades to Girl Guard/Sunbeam Camp at The Salvation Army June 27-30 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Camp includes lunch. The Salvation Army Girl Guard and Sunbeam Program (similar to other scouting programs) offers a holisticChristian education experience that helps girls develop social & communication habits, decision making & life skills and character & leadership. There is no fee for this camp, but you may only enroll if you are planning to commit to being part of the Girl Guard/Sunbeam Program September 2011 through June 2012.
