Celebrate Recovery program Celebrate Recovery, a step program which claims Jesus Christ as its Higher Power, is meeting at St. John's United Methodist Church, Pine and Poplar Streets, on Tuesdays at 7p.m. in Room 14. Women's Ministries, Bible Study Women's Ministries and Bible Study meets Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. at The Salvation Army in Seaford, next to Food Lion. Girl Guard/Sunbeam Camp The Salvation Army in Seaford invites all girls entering 3rd through 12th grades to Girl Guard/Sunbeam Camp at The Salvation Army June 27-30 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Camp includes lunch. There is no fee for this camp, but you may only enroll if you are planning to commit to being part of the Girl Guard/Sunbeam Program September 2011 through June 2012.The program meets during the school year on Wednesday evenings from 6 to 8 and includes dinner. John Wesley UMC holds rally On June 18 at 4 p.m. there will be a Shade of Roses Rally at John Wesley United Methodist Church. All are invited. Union UMC offers VBS, camps Union United Methodist Church in Bridgeville presents Vacation Bible School (VBS) - "Big Jungle Adventure, A Faith Journey with Jesus," - June 20 through June 24 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. VBS is free and open to children ages 3 through 5th grade. Dinner is served nightly at 5:30 p.m. There will be daily lessons, crafts, Bible challenges, storytelling, music and more. Pre-registration is now through June 19. VBS at Concord UMC Concord United Methodist Church in Seaford is offering a Vacation Bible School (VBS), Shake It Up Café, the week of June 20-24 from 6 to 8:30 p.m., for ages Pre-K through high school. Laurel Baptist holds VBS Vacation Bible school will be held at Laurel Baptist Church each evening from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., the week of June 20-24. This year's theme is "Beach Blast." VBS at Alliance Church "The Acts of God" is the theme of Vacation Bible School (VBS) at the Atlanta Road Alliance Church, June 20-24.Each evening begins with a light supper at 5:30 p.m. followed by the program for children ages 4 through grade 6. ICRIS, Under Command in concert He was a professional thief and drug dealer who found his way off the streets. Listen to his story through the hip hop stylings of ICRIS at The Lighthouse in Laurel on Saturday, June 18 as part of the Lightning Strikes Concert Series. If you like music with a classic rock edge, then you'll love "Under Command," on Saturday, June 25. VBS at Centenary UMC Centenary United Methodist Church, Poplar & Market Sts., Laurel, will hold Vacation Bible School, "Inside Out and Upside Down on Main Street," from June 27 to July 1, 9 to 11:30 a.m. Children from the ages of 4 through 6th grade are welcome to attend. Ordination of a Deacon On Saturday, June 18, at 11 a.m., the Rt. Rev. Wayne P. Wright, Bishop of Delaware, will ordain Kenneth F. Athey Jr. as a transitional Deacon. The Service of Ordination and Holy Eucharist is open to all, and all baptized Christians are invited to receive the Holy Eucharist. This will take place at Old Christ Church, Christ Road, Laurel. Following the service, a reception will be held in the Parish House of St. Philip's Episcopal Church in Laurel. Through the courtesy of Christ United Methodist Church, additional parking is available in the parking lot next door to St. Philip's.

Lewis receives scholarship The Rev. Julie A. Lewis, Laurel, was one of 11 women chosen to receive the 2011-2012 Georgia Harkness Scholarship. Rev. Lewis is preparing for ordination as an elder in The United Methodist Church and the scholarship will assist her in her studies at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C. Rev. Lewis and the other 10 Georgia Harkness scholars will attend the UMC Continuing Educators Annual Meeting in Miami, Fla. The seminary scholarships go to women over 35 who are preparing for ordination as elders in The United Methodist Church as a second career. The recipients are chosen by a committee of United Methodist elders and GBHEM staff. Rev. Lewis is serving Trinity United Methodist Church, Laurel, in the Peninsula-Delaware Conference.

Special showing of new film The First Baptist Church of Seaford invites the community to a special showing of Bob Jones University's newest feature length film, Milltown Pride, on Sunday, June 19 at 7 p.m. in the church auditorium located at 543 N.
