Women's Ministries, Bible Study Women's Ministries and Bible Study meets Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. at The Salvation Army in Seaford, next to Food Lion. Free weekly soup social A free weekly soup social is held every Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at Christ United Methodist Church, 510 S. Central Ave., Laurel. For details call 875-4233.

Gospel Cafe Every Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m. there is a Gospel Cafe in the Fellowship Hall at Laurel Baptist Church. Free Christian entertainment, live bands, local talent.Everyone is welcome. The church is located at 33056 Bi-State Blvd., Laurel.

Laurel Baptist hosts luncheon There will be a free community-wide luncheon (menu not yet determined) at Laurel Baptist Church on Saturday, July 16, from noon to 2 p.m. The church is located at 33056 Bi-State Blvd. (west side of Rt. 13A, approx. 2 miles south of town). Old Christ Church schedule Old Christ Church in Laurel announces the following services and events for the remainder of 2011.
  • Sunday services:Every first Sunday, June through September, at 10 a.m.
  • Sunday, Oct. 2, 3 p.m., Annual Blessing of the Animals
  • Sunday, Oct. 23, 3 p.m., Scott Family concert
  • Thursday, Nov. 24, 10 a.m., Thanksgiving service
  • In December a service of lessons and carols will be held. The exact date will be announced at a later time.

Trip to Camden Yards Centenary United Methodist Church (Sunshine Sunday School Class) is sponsoring a baseball trip to Camden Yards, Saturday, Aug. 27, to see the Orioles vs. Yankees. Game time is 1:05 p.m. Bus leaves Centenary Church parking lot at 8 a.m. Cost of the trip is $55, which includes the bus trip and ticket. Contact Ron Scott at 875-2823.

MEGA Sports Camp Central Worship Center located at 14545 Sycamore Rd., in Laurel, will hold a MEGA Sports Camp for kids in kindergarten through fifth grade, July 25-29 from 9 a.m. to noon. Sign language classes Basic/conversational sign language classes will be offered Mondays through Aug. 15, 4:30-5:30 or 6:30-7:30 p.m., at Christ United Methodist Church, 510 S. Central Ave., Laurel. Sportsman's Banquet The 1st Annual Sportsman's Banquet at Laurel Wesleyan Church, Laurel, is Saturday, Aug. 13, from 2 to 7 p.m. The event will be catered by Famous Dave's BBQ and features speaker/comedian Joey Hancock, outdoor activities, hayride, petting zoo and games and includes the following vendors - Gander Mountain, Holly Swamp Taxidermy, Old Hitch Outfitters, Quality Deer Mgmt., and Devastator Game Calls. Outdoor Gospel Musical Festival The 4th Annual Outdoor Gospel Musical Festival will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 16, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church on Old Stage Road, Laurel. Music will be provided by Charlie Paparella and The Olivet String Band, Good News Tour, Amanda Jones, Sounds of Joy, Stu and Yvonne Moore, and The Lights of Home. Bring lawn chairs and an appetite as hamburgers, hot dogs, homemade ice cream and much more will be served. Concerts at Lighthouse Church The Lighthouse Church in Laurel presents "Five Smooth Stones," a modern rock band and "Not Too Late," a classic rock band in concert this month. Hear "Five Smooth Stones" on Saturday, July 16 and "Not Too Late" on Saturday, July 30. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the concerts start at 7 p.m. Cost is $4 at the door, free for kids 12 and under. VBS Jungle Adventure St. John's VBS Jungle Adventure will be held July 18-22, at St. John's United Methodist Church in Seaford. For children ages 2 through 5th grade and teens in 6th grade and up. Dinner for children only at 5:30 p.m. followed by VBS from 6 to 8 p.m. There will be crafts, stories, music and games. Pre-register at the church office or call 629-9466.
