Women's Ministries, Bible Study Women's Ministries and Bible Study meets Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. at The Salvation Army in Seaford, next to Food Lion. Free weekly soup social A free weekly soup social is held every Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at Christ United Methodist Church, 510 S. Central Ave., Laurel. For details call 875-4233.

Gospel Cafe Every Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m. there is a Gospel Cafe in the Fellowship Hall at Laurel Baptist Church. Free Christian entertainment, live bands, local talent.Everyone is welcome. The church is located at 33056 Bi-State Blvd., Laurel.

Trip to Camden Yards Centenary United Methodist Church (Sunshine Sunday School Class) is sponsoring a baseball trip to Camden Yards, Saturday, Aug. 27, to see the Orioles vs. Yankees. Game time is 1:05 p.m. Bus leaves Centenary Church parking lot at 8 a.m. Cost of the trip is $55, which includes the bus trip and ticket.Contact Ron Scott at 875-2823.

Old Christ Church schedule Old Christ Church in Laurel announces the following services and events for the remainder of 2011.
  • Sunday services:Every first Sunday, June through September, at 10 a.m.
  • Sunday, Oct. 2, 3 p.m., Annual Blessing of the Animals
  • Sunday, Oct. 23, 3 p.m., Scott Family concert
  • Thursday, Nov. 24, 10 a.m., Thanksgiving service
  • In December a service of lessons and carols will be held. The exact date will be announced at a later time.


MEGA Sports Camp Central Worship Center located at 14545 Sycamore Rd., in Laurel, will hold a MEGA Sports Camp for kids in kindergarten through fifth grade, July 25-29 from 9 a.m. to noon. Sign language classes Basic/conversational sign language classes will be offered Mondays through Aug. 15, 4:30-5:30 or 6:30-7:30 p.m., at Christ United Methodist Church, 510 S. Central Ave., Laurel. Sportsman's Banquet The 1st Annual Sportsman's Banquet at Laurel Wesleyan Church, Laurel, is Saturday, Aug. 13, from 2 to 7 p.m. The event will be catered by Famous Dave's BBQ and features speaker/comedian Joey Hancock, outdoor activities, hayride, petting zoo and games and includes the following vendors - Gander Mountain, Holly Swamp Taxidermy, Old Hitch Outfitters, Quality Deer Mgmt., and Devastator Game Calls. Concerts at Lighthouse Church The Lighthouse Church in Laurel presents "Not Too Late," a classic rock band, Saturday, July 30. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the concerts start at 7 p.m.

Summer hours at Centenary During the month of August, Centenary United Methodist Church, Laurel, will have one service each Sunday at 10 a.m.Sunday School for all ages will begin at 9 a.m.Effective Sept. 4, Centenary UMC will return to its normal schedule of Contemporary Worship at 8:45 a.m. and Traditional Worship at 11 a.m. All are welcome to come and worship with us each week.

'Spiritual Enlightenment' planned Mt. Calvary A.M.E. Church, Concord, will hold a "Spiritual Enlightenment for Men and Women" from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 23. Gethsemane holds VBS Gethsemane United Methodist Church located at 2701 Woodland Ferry Road, Seaford, invites families to Vacation Bible School - Hometown Nazareth: Where Jesus was a Kid," on Aug. 1-5. Families step back in time at Hometown Nazareth, exploring what it was like to live in the town where Jesus grew up. Kids and adults participate in a memorable Bible-times marketplace, sing catchy songs, play teamwork-building games, dig into Bible-times snacks, visit Jesus' mom, Mary. Plus, everyone learns to look for evidence of God all around them through God Sightings. Each day concludes at Celebration – a time of upbeat worship that gets everyone involved. Outdoor Gospel Concert St. George's UMC church will host their 3rd annual Outdoor Gospel Concert on Saturday, Aug. 6 from 6 to 9 p.m. Talent will be provided by Deep Creek Revival, Pickn Pals, Jimmy Passwaters and Richard Lindale. Food and drinks will be available for sale including Em-ings Chicken. Be sure to bring a lawn chair for a night of Christian fellowship on St. George's Road between Delmar and Laurel.
