Christ United Methodist Church has been serving Christ in the Laurel community for over 180 years, but 2011 marks the centennial year of the presence of their beautiful gray stone and stained glass building on South Central Avenue. Several years ago the structure was made handicapped accessible with entry ramps and updated bathrooms. This year, they celebrated the centennial with the addition of a new roof and internal painting. Another important improvement is the renovation of the 100-year-old pipe organ, which will be heard at the Homecoming and Centennial Celebration service.
