Carman live in concert The Fish Locker presents Carman Live on Friday, July 13, at the Holiday Park Campground in Greensboro, Md. Carman has packed stadiums and arenas for over 20 years and has sold 10 million records. Tickets are $12 and $15. Email or visit for ticket information. The fundraiser benefits the Soweto Orphanage & Widows Center outside Nairobi, Africa and a mission team to serve there.

Open Mike Christian Night Open Mike Christian Night will be held the first and third Friday of the month from 7 to 9 p.m., at The Lighthouse Church located at 27225 Kaye Rd., just off Rt. 9, County Seat Highway at Dukes Lumber Road. Admission is free and there will be free snacks. Bring your singing talents - CD or musical instrument. Always special guests. One person, group singers, young to seniors welcome. Old Christ Church summer schedule Old Christ Church announces regular summer services on the first Sundays, Aug. 5 and Sept. 2. Services begin at 10 a.m. at Old Christ Church, which is at the corner of Chipmans Pond Road and Christ Church Road in Laurel. Old Christ Church is now part of the Delaware History Trail; more information can be found at Visit us for a Sunday service, and stay for a glass of iced tea afterwards. We also offer Old Christ Church note cards for sale, $10 for a package of a dozen notes with envelopes. They will be available after the service.

New book shares inspiring story Delaware author Carla Ziegler was a young adult when she first saw visions of the devil in her life. In her new memoir, "Uprooting Evil: Flirting with the Unknown," she shares how, after a treacherous voyage to California, she met a woman named Anita who taught her about the love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ. In "Uprooting Evil," Ziegler details how she learned to find truth and understanding after a life filled with drugs, alcohol, sex, and many more vices of the world. No Name Band in concert The No Name Band will be at Union United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall in Bridgeville on Friday, July 13 at 7:30 p.m. For more information, contact Everett Warrington at 337-7198. Hymn Sing at Concord UMC A Hymn Sing will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 15, at Concord United Methodist Church near Seaford. The public is invited to enjoy musical entertainment by "Charlie and the Olivet String Band," featuring well-known photo-journalist and reporter Charles Paparella, along with John Perdue and Charlie Lynch. VBS at St. John's St. John's United Methodist Church in Seaford will hold Operation Overboard Vacation Bible School from 6 to 8 p.m. on July 16-20. Children ages 3 to 12 are invited to attend. Women's Empowerment 2012 Women's Empowerment 2012 will be held from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 14, at Freedom Academy Mentoring in Greenwood. The purpose of Women's Empowerment 2012 is to enhance, educate and inform women in several workshops that include spirituality, health and wellness, church fashion and seedtime and harvest. Bible Boot Camp Laurel Wesleyan Church will hold VBS Sundays, "Bible Boot Camp," this summer. GriefShare program offered Community members who have experienced the death of a family member or friend are invited to register for the GriefShare program held at St. John's United Methodist Church. This program features Christ-centered, biblical teaching that focuses on grief topics associated with the death of a loved one. Robert Collins and his wife, the Rev. Danese Collins, will lead the sessions. Both leaders have completed additional course work in counseling the bereaved and grieving. Gospel Café Gospel Café held every Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall at Laurel Baptist Church. Free Christian entertainment, live bands, local talent. Harvesters to perform The Harvesters, a gospel group from North Carolina, will perform at the First Baptist Church of Delmar on Friday, July 13 at 7 p.m. Refreshments will be served following the concert.

Consignment Boutique, Art Gallery The Church Mouse Consignment Boutique and Art Gallery, a mission of Union United Methodist Church in Bridgeville, is now open Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. A selection of quality furniture, home décor and ladies accessories (jewelry, scarves, handbags) are for sale. Like items are accepted for consignment - the commission fee for these items are 40% to consignor for items selling under $100 and 50% for items over $100. Local art work is also on display and for sale. If you are a local artist and want to display your work for sale in the gallery section there is a fee of 10% for items priced under $50 and 15% for items $51-$150 and a 20% fee for items over $150. Kids items accepted Little Grace "Newborn & Children's Closet" at Grace United Methodist Church, 7 S. King St., Georgetown, is accepting newborn and children's clothing as well as any baby and kids items any time. Thrift Shop open Saturdays St. John's Thrift Shop located at 259 N. Conwell St. in Seaford, is open every Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. A variety of infant, toddler, youth and adult clothing is available. Housewares, bedding and children's books are also available.

Outdoor Gospel Music Festival The 5th Annual Outdoor Gospel Music Festival will be held on Saturday, July 21, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church located at 32827 Old Stage Rd., Laurel. Music will be provided by Good News Tour, Sounds of Joy, Homeland Singers, Triple Praise, Wayne Gober and The Lights of Home. Bring lawn chairs and an appetite as we will be serving hamburgers, hot dogs, homemade ice cream and much more. Sonrise National Park VBS Join us for Sonrise National Park VBS at St. Stephen's UMC in Delmar from July 15-19. Dinner will be provided from 5:30 to 6 p.m., followed by games, lessons, crafts and music until 8. Children ages 3 to 12 are invited to attend.
