Open Mike Christian Night Open Mike Christian Night will be held the first and third Friday of the month from 7 to 9 p.m., at The Lighthouse Church located at 27225 Kaye Rd., just off Rt. 9, County Seat Highway at Dukes Lumber Road. Admission is free and there will be free snacks. Bring your singing talents - CD or musical instrument. Always special guests. One person, group singers, young to seniors welcome. Old Christ Church summer schedule Old Christ Church announces regular summer services on the first Sundays, Aug. 5 and Sept. 2. Services begin at 10 a.m. at Old Christ Church, which is at the corner of Chipmans Pond Road and Christ Church Road in Laurel. Old Christ Church is now part of the Delaware History Trail; more information can be found at http://www.visitdelaware.com/delaware-history-trail/. Visit us for a Sunday service, and stay for a glass of iced tea afterwards. We also offer Old Christ Church note cards for sale, $10 for a package of a dozen notes with envelopes. They will be available after the service. New book shares inspiring story Delaware author Carla Ziegler was a young adult when she first saw visions of the devil in her life. In her new memoir, "Uprooting Evil: Flirting with the Unknown," she shares how, after a treacherous voyage to California, she met a woman named Anita who taught her about the love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ. In "Uprooting Evil," Ziegler details how she learned to find truth and understanding after a life filled with drugs, alcohol, sex, and many more vices of the world. Ziegler is a full-time teacher residing in Selbyville with her husband and three children.

Bible Boot Camp Laurel Wesleyan Church will hold VBS Sundays, "Bible Boot Camp," this summer. Join us each Sunday through Aug. 26, from 9 to 10:25 a.m. There will be a 9 a.m. worship service for parents. Kids in preschool through 6th grade are invited to attend. GriefShare program offered Community members who have experienced the death of a family member or friend are invited to register for the GriefShare program held at St. John's United Methodist Church. This program features Christ-centered, biblical teaching that focuses on grief topics associated with the death of a loved one. Robert Collins and his wife, the Rev. Danese Collins, will lead the sessions. Both leaders have completed additional course work in counseling the bereaved and grieving. GriefShare will be held on Wednesdays in the Wesley Lounge of St. John's United Methodist Church. To register or for questions, call 629-9466. Child care is not provided.

Gospel Café Gospel Café held every Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall at Laurel Baptist Church. Free Christian entertainment, live bands, local talent. The church is located at 33056 Bi-State Blvd., Laurel.

Consignment Boutique, Art Gallery The Church Mouse Consignment Boutique and Art Gallery, a mission of Union United Methodist Church in Bridgeville, is now open Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. A selection of quality furniture, home décor and ladies accessories (jewelry, scarves, handbags) are for sale. Like items are accepted for consignment - the commission fee for these items are 40% to consignor for items selling under $100 and 50% for items over $100.

Local art work is also on display and for sale. If you are a local artist and want to display your work for sale in the gallery section there is a fee of 10% for items priced under $50 and 15% for items $51-$150 and a 20% fee for items over $150. Kids items accepted Little Grace "Newborn & Children's Closet" at Grace United Methodist Church, 7 S. King St., Georgetown, is accepting newborn and children's clothing as well as any baby and kids items any time. Drop them off at the church office or you can bring them to the closet when it is open on the first and third Thursday every month, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information, call Diane Lockwood at 344-6380.

St. Luke's newsletter St. Luke's Episcopal Church offers its newsletter online and also via email. Luke's Letter is published quarterly and will be available on our website: www.stlukesseaford.org. Thrift Shop open Saturdays St. John's Thrift Shop located at 259 N. Conwell St. in Seaford, is open every Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. A variety of infant, toddler, youth and adult clothing is available. Housewares, bedding and children's books are also available.

Outdoor Gospel Music Festival The 5th Annual Outdoor Gospel Music Festival will be held on Saturday, July 21, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church located at 32827 Old Stage Rd., Laurel. Music will be provided by Good News Tour, Sounds of Joy, Homeland Singers, Triple Praise, Wayne Gober and The Lights of Home. Bring lawn chairs and an appetite as we will be serving hamburgers, hot dogs, homemade ice cream and much more. All proceeds go to St. Paul's youth program so they can attend the annual Christian youth rally in Ocean City. For more information, call Roger at 258-8810.

Special worship hour St. John's United Methodist Church extends an open invitation to come to a special 10 a.m. worship hour on Sunday, Aug. 12. The Itzels, Maryland's premiere independent Christian music ministry, will perform. Bill and Karen, along with their three children, Jessica, Ryan, and Shannon Bailey, have been touring full-time for over 20 years and have over 200 original songs. Everyone is welcome. Rock the Block The Stein Highway Church of God and Teen Challenge are hosting a free event, "Rock the Block" beginning at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 28, in the church parking lot. There will be free food, concerts, a dance off, games and a balloon bounce. A scooter and other prizes will be given away. Civic organizations will have information available.
