Open Mike Christian Night Open Mike Christian Night will be held the first and third Friday of the month from 7 to 9 p.m., at The Lighthouse Church, located at 27225 Kaye Rd., just off Rt. 9, County Seat Highway at Dukes Lumber Road. Admission is free and there will be free snacks. Bring your singing talents - CD or musical instrument. Always special guests. One person, group singers, young to seniors welcome. Hymn Sing, Antique Car Show The First Baptist Church of Delmar is hosting a Hymn Sing and Antique Car Show on Labor Day, Sept. 3, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the church on Bi-State Boulevard in Delmar. The Hymn Sing features Landon Beaty, Gus Glaros, Heather Butler, Janet Butler,The Dove Quartet, The Island Boys, McKenzie George, Steve Moore, Bobbie Rae Jones and Warren and Sarah Webster. The car show is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Hot dogs, hamburgers and drinks will be available. Everyone is invited. Come and join us for a wonderful time.

Aging Faithfully ministry Union United Methodist Church, located at 2 N. Laws St., Bridgeville, will resume monthly meetings of its Aging Faithfully Adult/Senior Ministry on Monday, Sept. 10. Meetings begin at 11:30 a.m. and run until 1:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall opening with prayer and a short devotional. A free lunch is also provided. Guest speakers will be Steve Rose, CEO, Nanticoke Health Services and Tom Brown, president, Nanticoke Physicians Network, S.V.P. Nanticoke Health Services. They will speak on "Healthcare Changes & How They Impact You." There will also be a time for a round table type discussion giving an opportunity to ask questions. You do not have to be a senior/adult to attend and prior registration is not required although encouraged for preparation of food. Soup Social Christ United Methodist Church, 510 Central Ave., Laurel, will resume its weekly, free Soup Social on Tuesday, Sept. 4, at 5:30 p.m. in the church basement. For more information, contact the church office at 875-4233. Kids items accepted Little Grace "Newborn & Children's Closet" at Grace United Methodist Church, 7 S. King St., Georgetown, is accepting newborn and children's clothing as well as any baby and kids items any time. Consignment Boutique, Art Gallery The Church Mouse Consignment Boutique and Art Gallery, a mission of Union United Methodist Church in Bridgeville, is now open Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. All proceeds go to Union United Methodist Church. Thrift Shop open Saturdays St. John's Thrift Shop, located at 259 N. Conwell St. in Seaford, is open every Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. A variety of infant, toddler, youth and adult clothing is available. Housewares, bedding and children's books are also available.

GriefShare program offered Community members who have experienced the death of a family member or friend are invited to register for the GriefShare program held at St. John's United Methodist Church. This program features Christ-centered, biblical teaching that focuses on grief topics associated with the death of a loved one. Robert Collins and his wife, the Rev. Danese Collins, will lead the sessions. Both leaders have completed additional course work in counseling the bereaved and grieving. GriefShare will be held on Wednesdays in the Wesley Lounge of St. John's United Methodist Church. To register or for questions, call 629-9466. Child care is not provided.

New Children's Chapel Ministry St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Seaford is announcing a Children's Chapel program beginning Sunday, Sept. 16. Children in kindergarten through 5th grade will begin Sunday morning worship in the Chapel (Parish Hall) at 9 a.m. Worship will include prayer, music, sign language, puppets, object lessons and more. Lessons will follow the scripture readings. At the conclusion of Children's Chapel, the children will join the congregation in the celebration of the Holy Communion. Children's Chapel is open to all young people regardless of their religious affiliation. Children 6th grade and older are welcome to help with this ministry on a regular basis, and attend morning worship with the congregation. Diana Yelverton, the inspiration and principal teacher of Children's Chapel, has been involved in children's ministry for the past 20 years. Chicken 'n dumpling dinner Christ United Methodist Church's Men of Faith will hold an all-you-can-eat chicken 'n dumpling fundraiser dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 22, at the church located at 510 S. Central Ave., Laurel. Dinner platters will include chicken and dumplings, mashed potatoes, dressing, green beans, rolls and a dessert. Dinners also include a beverage (coffee, tea or water). Cost is $10 for adults, $5 for children. Children 5 and under eat free. Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door. Guests can eat in or carry out. Pickups will be available beginning at 2 p.m. on Sept. 22. Large carryout orders (six or more) can be picked up prior to 2 p.m., but should be placed in advance by calling the church office at 875-4233 by 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20. Events at John Wesley UMC John Wesley United Methodist Church in Seaford in conjunction with Gosporium Music Group LLC presents a Dinner Concert at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8 at St. Luke Episcopal Church Parish Hall in Seaford. Cost is a donation of $15. The Parish Hall is located at 202 North St., Seaford. The church is sponsoring a plate form service "Operators for Christ" at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 16 and the Dynamic Kilgue Family Choir in concert at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 22. These events will be held at the church which is located at Third and Chandler streets in Seaford.

A night of gospel music Victory Junction will host a night of gospel music from 6 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8. Guest singers will be Jimmy Cullen, Ashley Yoder and Joe Dawson at Long Neck United Church, Long Neck Road, Millsboro. For more information, call 934-6995.
