Consignment Boutique, Art Gallery The Church Mouse Consignment Boutique and Art Gallery, a mission of Union United Methodist Church in Bridgeville, is now open Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. All proceeds go to Union United Methodist Church. Cornerstone Shoppe The Cornerstone Shoppe (a fundraiser) is now open at Christ the Cornerstone Community Church, corner of Bethel and Seaford Rd, Laurel. On sale are collectibles, gifts, toys, Christmas decor and more, jewelry, furniture, and items too numerous to list. Stop in on Thursday from noon to 7 p.m., Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., or Saturday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. to see bargains galore.

Lightning Strikes concert series The Lightning Strikes concert series, at The Lighthouse Church located at 27225 Kaye Rd., just off Rt. 9, County Seat Highway at Dukes Lumber Road, Laurel, is held every second and fourth Saturday of the month. Different styles of music are showcased including Christian rock, rap, hip-rock, metal blues and more, as well as audience participation nights. There is a $4 donation at the door and ages 12 and under are free. Don't forget to ask for a "reward card" to save on future admission and shakes. LMA meeting The Laurel Ministerial Association will meet on Wednesday, Nov. 7 at 2 p.m. and Wednesday, Dec. 12, at 2 p.m. The Ecumenical Thanksgiving Service will be Tuesday, Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. at Centenary United Methodist Church in Laurel. Rev. Backus, the new president, will be the guest preacher and the New Zion Choir will sing.

Asbury UMC celebrates 200 years Asbury United Methodist Church will celebrate its 200th year of continuous service to the Lord on Sunday, Nov. 11 in a 2 pm. Homecoming Celebration Service. The Rev. George Godfrey, former pastor at Asbury, will be the keynote speaker. He will be joined by current Pastor John Hinkle Jr., the Rev. Glenn Lyburn, Pastor Ken Huffman, the Rev. Richard Bridge and Pastor Paul Isaacs. Each pastor has served at Asbury at one time in their careers. The Rev. Boyd Etter, Dover district superintendent, will join in the celebration. Special music will be provided by the Rev. Jack Savage, Arnold Smith Jr. and Darlene and the Old Time Gospel Singers. After the service, a meal will follow in the Church Hall where commemorative items - calendars, afghans and a cookbook - will be available for purchase. The church is located on Rt. 9, just west of Sussex Tech High School.

Awana Clubs at Alliance Church Awana Clubs are being held at Atlanta Road Alliance Church on Wednesday evenings from 6:45 to 8:25 p.m. for children in kindergarten through sixth grade. Sparks (K-second grade) ignites the curiosity of early elementary kids to learn about the people and events of the Bible, building a foundation of wisdom for knowing Christ. Open Mike Christian Night Open Mike Christian Night will be held the first and third Friday of the month from 7 to 9 p.m., at The Lighthouse Church, located at 27225 Kaye Rd., just off Rt. 9, County Seat Highway at Dukes Lumber Road. Admission is free and there will be free snacks. Bring your singing talents - CD or musical instrument. Always special guests. One person, group singers, young to seniors welcome. Christmas Extravaganza Trinity UMC near Trap Pond will host its Fourth Annual Christmas Extravaganza on Saturday, Nov. 17 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Vendors of home businesses and crafts are needed to come and show their products. Vendors' cost is $10 per table. Contact Karen Rogers at 875-2079 if you want to participate. The Youth Group will provide lunch and snacks for sale. There will also be a craft for kids to make and take home. Come and share in this wonderful event.

Praise Band wanted A local church in Laurel is looking to start a Praise Band for their 10 a.m. service. If you love God and have musical talent, consider joining us for worship and sharing your talent. Singers, guitars, drums, whatever you can do will be wonderful. We do not have the ability at this time for financial compensation so this will be a volunteer service for now. Contact Julie Lewis of Trinity UMC at 875-4741 for more information.

GriefShare program offered Community members who have experienced the death of a family member or friend are invited to register for the GriefShare program held at St. John's United Methodist Church. This program features Christ-centered, biblical teaching that focuses on grief topics associated with the death of a loved one. Robert Collins and his wife, the Rev. Danese Collins, will lead the sessions. Both leaders have completed additional course work in counseling the bereaved and grieving. GriefShare will be held on Wednesdays starting Nov. 7, 6:30 - 8 p.m., in the Wesley Lounge of St. John's UMC. To register or for questions, call 629-9466. Child care is not provided.

'Free Lunch and Clothing' Seaford Wesleyan Church will sponsor a "Free Lunch and Clothing" on Saturday, Nov. 10, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at St. Lukes Episcopal Church, 202 North St., Seaford. Everyone is welcome.

Holiday Shopping Event Laurel Nazarene Church will hold a Holiday Shopping Event on Saturday, Nov. 10 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Shop from 20 vendors including direct sales companies and local businesses. Lunch will be available for purchase between 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Proceeds from the day will go towards church mission trip to Belize. The church is located at 100 Walnut St., Laurel.

Annual Homecoming Service Woodland United Methodist Church will hold its annual Homecoming service at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 11. Guest speaker will be the Rev. Diane Melson. Special music will be provided by Charles Paparella and the Olivet Church String Band. A covered dish dinner will follow in the Fellowship Hall. There will be no morning worship service.
