National Day of Prayer
Bridgeville - National Day of Prayer services in Bridgeville are Thursday, May 4, at 7 p.m., in the Bridgeville Historical Society Park, at the intersection of Delaware Avenue and Williams Street. Greenwood - A National Day of Prayer Program are on Thursday, May 4, at 7 p.m. at Greenwood Memorial VFW Post 7478, on Governors Avenue in Greenwood. The theme is "America, Honor God," based on I Samuel, 2:30. Many area churches and their pastors will be participating in the program. The keynote speaker for the evening is Capt. Barry Ball, a chaplain in the U.S. Air Force Reserves. A free will offering will be taken for the National Day of Prayer Task Force. 'Who Is This Jesus?' classes
"Who Is This Jesus?" Anyone who viewed the Jesus DVD recently distributed throughout the Seaford area is invited to the following churches for this investigative study designed for those who would like to explore more after having seen the film. Bible College Chorale May 6

Community Prayer Breakfast May 6
Jerry Williams, the human and spiritual aims chairman, of the Bridgeville Kiwanis Club has announced the Kiwanis Community Prayer Breakfast will be Saturday, May 6, at 8 a.m. in the fellowship hall of Union United Methodist Church. There will be a buffet prepared and served by the church staff. Special music will be provided by Everett Warrington and the speakers will be Lori Rider and Robyn Sturgeon. The prayer breakfast is part of celebrating the National Week of Prayer. Tickets are $7 each, with some free tickets made available through table sponsors. Mt. Pleasant Spring Festival
Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church Spring Festival, May 6, serving from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Menu includes oyster fritter, chicken salad and hot dog sandwiches, homemade vegetable soup, homemade ice cream and various bake items. The church is located on Mt. Pleasant Road approximately 3 miles west of Laurel off of Rt. 24. Carry-outs are available during the same hours.

Gospel Cafe starting May 6
Centenary United Methodist Church, Poplar and Market streets, Laurel, is hosting a Christian music hour each Saturday, 6 to 7 p.m. in the fellowship hall of the church. Bruce and Nancy Willey are presenting live Christian music, fellowship and refreshments. Each week Mary Ann Young sings Gospel favorites. May guest singers are:

Gospel Talent Search
The ninth annual Mountaire Gospel Talent Search will take place Thursday, Friday and Saturday, May 11-13, at Bayshore Community Church in Gumboro. Last year more than 120 churches sent singers, musicians and songwriters to perform for $30,000 in prize money in adult, youth and children divisions. This year, Mountaire will again offer $30,000 in prizes for the winners. Added this year is a $500 cash award to the church that brings the most fans, in addition to their performers. New Living Water Church

River of Life Anniversary

Diane Lofland, pastor of New Covenant Faith & Deliverance House and founder of New Coverdale Outreach Mission; Friday, May 5, Pastor Harold R. Williams, Gethesemane Christian Center, Quincy, Ill. Sussex Prayer Breakfast May 15
Internationally renowned speaker and published author Pastor Dewey Friedel will be Sussex County Council's guest speaker at the 29th annual Prayer Breakfast, set for Monday, May 15, in Georgetown. Friedel, co-founder of the Shore Christian Center church in Allenwood, N.J., began his ministry at the impressionable age of 14, preaching sermons and later singing with a gospel group. He then traveled the world, preaching through crusades and pastors' conferences in locales such as India and Africa, before settling at the Jersey Shore with his wife, Ronda. There, in 1977, the couple founded Shore Christian Center, a church that has grown to being the spiritual hub for more than 1,400 members in the coastal area, with services, almost two dozen ministries and a Christian academy through eighth grade. Shore Christian Center also reaches potentially thousands more through its local TV ministry broadcasts, called "Peak Performance for Life." Pastor Friedel also has penned a book titled "Real Men Wear Boxer Shorts: Qualities that Make Men Real," a humor-laced guide that helps to illustrate the need for strong men of faith in churches, popular culture and throughout society. Mary & Martha Tea Room
The Mary & Martha Tea Room, a program for women sponsored by Take My Hand Ministry, will be on May 17 from 2 to 4 p.m. at 102 Maryland Ave. in Greenwood. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Gospel Music Jamboree
There will be a Country Gospel Music Jamboree on Saturday, May 6, at Cannon U.M. Church, starting at 6 p.m., presented by the Country Gospel Music Association, Seaford chapter. Fun and fellowship dance
St. John's United Methodist Church will have a fun and fellowship dance on Saturday, June 17, from 5:30 to 10 p.m. The dinner (choice of steak or baked chicken breast) will be catered by the Seaford Men of the Moose. Christian and dinner music will be provided during dinner by Jerry Jones and Mark Lowery CD Specials with live performances by "Lights of Home" and musical memories by Charles Michel (music from the 1940s to 1980s). The price is $18 a person with advance tickets only with 200 tickets available. Groups of six or more must reserve a table in order to sit together. Mt. Calvary Mother's Day
There will be a Mother's Day Prayer Breakfast at Mt. Calvary United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 28 Church St., Bridgeville, on Saturday, May 13, at 8 a.m. Guest preacher will be the Rev. Faye Corbin of Brotherly Love House of Praise, Manokin, Md. Sister Mary L. Grant, the Mother of the Church and wife of the late Rev. Roland Grant (a pastor from the old Delaware Conference) will be honored. Menu will consist of sausage, scrambled eggs, home fries, scrapple, grits, biscuits with jelly or butter, mixed fruit, coffee or orange juice. Cost of tickets is $7 and must be purchased by May 10. Concert at Trinity United
Everett Warrington and the Gospel Gents will be in concert at Trinity United Methodist Church (near Trap Pond) at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 21. A fellowship dinner will proceed the service at 5 p.m.

River of Life Video series
A video series on love, sex, marriage and romance which consists of six 60-minute sessions addressing the art of attraction, dating, courtship, intimacy, conflict, romance and commitment is being presented by Tommy Nelson, pastor of Denton Bible Church, Denton, Texas. The second annual Gethsemane United Methodist Youth Group Flower Fair will be held in the Fellowship Hall of the church on Saturday, May 6, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., rain or shine. Hanging baskets, bedding flowers, plants, herbs and many other items. Also available are hot dogs and a bake sale. Free blood pressure checks will be available from 9-11 a.m. This event is a fund raiser for the youth group to help support their activities and events. Book of Esther drama June 4
Messiash's Vineyard Church, Laurel, will be performing the Book of Esther. The drama is entitled "Esther and the King." Plan to attend on Sunday, June 4, at 9:30 a.m. and our evening performance at 7 p.m. This exhilarating account of the Book of Esther involves a beautiful young orphan girl who rises from obscurity to become queen. She even hides a secret that could be her demise. There is an ambitious villain whose passion is to destroy the innocent.
