Lightning Strikes concert series The Lightning Strikes concert series, at The Lighthouse Church, located at 27225 Kaye Rd., just off Rt. 9, County Seat Highway at Dukes Lumber Road, Laurel, is held every second and fourth Saturday of the month. Pre-Appreciation Service Booker Street Church of God in Georgetown will hold a Pre-Appreciation Service featuring Apostle Linda Tucker of Higher Ground Ministries International of Wilmington at 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 10. 'The First Martyr' "The First Martyr," an original play that surrounds the life of Jesus Christ, a production of Power Production Ministries, will be presented at 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 13 and 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 14, in the Wicomico Senior High School Auditorium, Salisbury. Luncheon at St. George's Church A luncheon featuring oyster - chicken salad and hot dog sandwiches, vegetable soup, peas and dumplings, desserts and baked goods will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 9, at St. George's United Methodist Church. The church is located on St. George's Road, between Laurel and Delmar.

Salvation Army offers new program The Salvation Army Sussex Chapel has begun a new program this year, Music & Moore for area second and third graders. The goal of the program is to help improve reading skills through Mission: Literacy, a Christian based reading program designed to reinforce reading skills learned at school. Events at All Saint's Church All Saint's Episcopal Church located at 10th and Grove streets in Delmar is offering the following events: Lenten Worship, Fellowship, Study - On Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 8 p.m. the church is offering an Order of Worship followed by a soup supper, a DVD presentation and discussion on the topic, An Overview of Ancient Israelite History; March 13, The Flood Story; and March 20, Covenant. Community Lenten Services For Christians, Ash Wednesday signifies the first day in the season of Lent, marking the liturgical period prior to Easter. Awana Clubs at Alliance Church Awana Clubs are being held at Atlanta Road Alliance Church on Wednesday evenings from 6:45 to 8:25 p.m. for children in kindergarten through sixth grade. Annual Men's Day Celebration The men of New Zion UMC are celebrating their Annual Men's Day with a weekend full of spiritual events. This year's theme is "Men with a Vision." There will be a Gospel concert featuring "The Mighty Men of Calvary" on Friday, March 15, at 7 p.m. at the church. On Saturday, March 16, at 6:30 p.m. in the dining hall, there will be a Men's Day Banquet featuring Oliver Bennett of Birdsnest, VA, as the guest speaker. Tickets are $25. Youth yard sale, fish sandwich sale The youth of New Zion UMC are having a yard sale and Fish Sandwich sale on Saturday, March 30. The yard sale is from 7 a.m. to noon and the fish sandwich sale is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The cost is $5. The church address is 428 West 6th Street in Laurel. Divorce Support Group DivorceCare¨, a support group for adults experiencing the pain of divorce or separation, will meet on Wednesdays from 6:45 to 8:15 p.m. beginning March 13 and running through June 5, at Atlanta Road Alliance Church in Seaford. Childcare is not available, however, children in kindergarten through grade 6 may attend Awana and those in grades 7-12 may attend the youth group. Cost for class materials is $15. Griefshare class offered Griefshare, a special seminar and group support for people grieving the loss of someone close, will be offered at Encounter Praize at Christ Lutheran Church, Seaford. Griefshare is a non-denominational group that features Biblical teaching on grief and recovery. You are welcome to begin attending the Griefshare group at any session. One class will meet on Friday mornings from 9 to 11 (for those who can meet during the day) and the second class will meet on Saturday evenings from 5 to 7 p.m. (for those who can meet at night). The Friday class will start on Friday, March 8 and the Saturday class will start on Saturday, March 9. Both classes will run for 13 weeks. For more information, call 629-9755.
