Lightning Strikes concert series The Lightning Strikes concert series, at The Lighthouse Church, located at 27225 Kaye Rd., just off Rt. 9, County Seat Highway at Dukes Lumber Road, Laurel, is held every second and fourth Saturday of the month. Summer Service Schedule Old Christ Church, Laurel will be open for regular Sunday services on the first Sunday of each month, June through September. The services, Holy Eucharist and Sermon, will take place at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 4 and Sunday, Sept. 1.

VBS at St. Paul's UMC St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Laurel will hold Vacation Bible School (VBS) on Aug. 5-9, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. This year's theme is God's Backyard Bible Camp under the sun and stars. Movie Night resumes this fall Christian Movie Night at Laurel Baptist Church is on hiatus for the summer. It will resume on Sept. 27. For more information, call Pastor Steve at 381-1850.

St. Stephens UMC fundraiser St. Stephens UMC will have a Love Light Tree to raise money for its many ministries. A Love Light Tree is a Christmas tree decorated with multi-color lights for Christmas and the different colored lights represent different types of ways of honoring loved ones. A minimum of $5 is requested per light and larger gifts are welcome. Checks should be payable to St. Stephens Church with "Love Light Tree," in the memo. Griefshare class offered Griefshare, a special seminar and group support for people grieving the loss of someone close, will be offered at Encounter Praize at Christ Lutheran Church, Seaford. Griefshare is a non-denominational group that features Biblical teaching on grief and recovery. One class will meet on Friday mornings from 9 to 11 and the second class will meet on Saturday evenings from 5 to 7 p.m. Call 629-9755 for details.

VBS for mentally challenged The BSSP Program at Christ Lutheran Church, 315 N. Shipley St., Seaford, will host its summer Vacation Bible School program on Aug. 12-16, for mentally challenged youth and adults. The theme is "Tell It on the Mountain," where Jesus Christ is Lord. Students will sing, pray and learn about the One True God through five mountaintop Bible accounts where God meets His people with clear messages of His might and power. A light dinner will be served from 6 to 6:30 p.m. Class is from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Bible stories will be told by a storyteller, along with puppets, music, games and crafts. Christ Lutheran Church is selling Cat's Meow replica Christ Lutheran Church is conducting sale of Cat's Meow wooden replicas of their church building to benefit their foodshelf. They are offering three different wooden replica items for sale: Outside view of church building. Sanctuary alter - distant view. Sanctuary alter - close-up view. The cost of each replica is $20, which is due when the replicas are picked up. Orders can be placed by calling the church office at 629-9755.
