St. Stephens UMC fundraiser St. Stephens UMC will have a Love Light Tree to raise money for its many ministries. A Love Light Tree is a Christmas tree decorated with multi-color lights for Christmas and the different colored lights represent different types of ways of honoring loved ones. A minimum of $5 is requested per light and larger gifts are welcome. Checks should be payable to St. Stephens Church with "Love Light Tree," in the memo. Griefshare class offered Griefshare, a special seminar and group support for people grieving the loss of someone close, will be offered at Encounter Praize at Christ Lutheran Church, Seaford. Griefshare is a non-denominational group that features Biblical teaching on grief and recovery. One class will meet on Friday mornings from 9 to 11 and the second class will meet on Saturday evenings from 5 to 7 p.m. Call 629-9755 for details.

Church selling Cat's Meow replicas Christ Lutheran Church, in conjunction with Thrivent Financial, is selling Cat's Meow wooden replicas of their church building to benefit their food shelf. Orders can be placed by calling the church office at 629-9755 or Dale Odenwelder at 629-7878. The church can also be visited from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday through Thursday to examine samples and proofs. The church is located at 315 N. Shipley St., Seaford.

Open Mic Christian Night Open Mic Christian Night is the first and third Friday of every month from 7 to 9 p.m. at The Lighthouse Church located at 27225 Kaye Rd., just off Rt. 9, County Seat Highway at Dukes Lumber Road. Bus trip to Sight and Sound Theater Union United Methodist Church (UUMC) in Bridgeville is taking a bus trip to Sight and Sound Theater in Lancaster, Pa., to see "The Miracle of Christmas," on Friday, Dec. 6. Cost is $101.42 per person and includes bus, show and dinner at Miller's Smorgasboard. Reservations are being accepted along with a deposit of $50 per person. Final payment is due Friday, Nov. 15. Revival Meeting A Revival Meeting will be held at Blades Town Hall Public Park from 1 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14, which is Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement. Christian Writer's Conference Vine & Vessels Christian Writers Fellowship will host its 5th Annual 2013 "Connecting Pen To Purpose" Christian Writer's Conference on Saturday, Oct. 19, from 8:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at Crossroad Community Church, Georgetown. National speaker, conference director, author, Marlene Bagnull, Litt.D will serve as the keynote speaker. Lightning Strikes concert series The Lightning Strikes concert series, at The Lighthouse Church, located at 27225 Kaye Rd., just off Rt. 9, County Seat Highway at Dukes Lumber Road, Laurel, is held every second and fourth Saturday of the month. KWF hosts Candy Abbott Kingdom Writers Fellowship (KWF) is hosting Candy Abbott as their speaker at their meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 17. Abbott, an author, speaker and managing partner of Fruitbearer Publishing, Georgetown, will discuss, "Agents, Proposals, and Editors as They Relate to Self-publishing." MOPs group at Laurel Wesleyan The Laurel Wesleyan Church MOPs group invites all mothers of children from birth through age 5 to join our community of mothers as we learn, have fun, and support one another during this important season of life. Picnic, lunch and clothing event The Ark, Seaford Wesleyan Church will have their annual Community Picnic at the church from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 29. Join us for a day of worship, fellowship and praise by the Crossroads Christian Band and our own worship team. There will be free food, cotton candy, games, hayrides, corn hole and bouncies. Fundraiser for The Watsons The congregation at St. Paul's UMC in Laurel is hosting a fundraiser for The Watsons from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 15. "Greg and Teresa's home was vandalized and the vehicle they use to tow their travel trailer needs replacing. They do not have a home church so we have adopted them into our church family," said the Rev. Rebecca Rollins, church pastor. In addition to The Watsons, other groups performing will be Sounds of Joy, The Good News Tour and 7th Hour. The Watsons, both natives of North Carolina, have a special gospel sound with a country feel. They have recorded several albums, made numerous radio and television appearances and taken several missions trips. For the past seven years, they have committed to helping the homeless in Seaford. A love offering will be taken to benefit the Watsons and their ministry. Donations may also be mailed to the church at 32827 Old Stage Rd., Laurel, DE 19956.

Annual Roast Beef Dinner Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church in Seaford will serve their annual Roast Beef Dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 25. The meal is served buffet style and features roast beef/gravy, mashed potatoes, vegetables, salads and homemade desserts. Cost is $10 for adults, $5 for youth and under 5 are free. Tent Revival The Lighthouse Church, 27225 Kaye Rd., Laurel, is hosting a Tent Revival on Sunday, Sept. 15 starting at 1:30 p.m., and Sept. 16-18, starting at 7 p.m. nightly. The revival meetings will feature preaching from Evangelist Bishop Paul Pinnick, Pastor Jermyn Vance from House of Prayer Ministries, and Minister Chuck Parks, all from Jamestown, Tenn. Church Revival at Laurel Baptist Laurel Baptist Church Revival will be held on Sept. 15-17, 7 p.m. Singsperation will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 18. The church is located at 33056 Bi-State Blvd, Laurel.

Chicken Barbecue Saturday Chicken Barbecue Saturday, Sept. 14, 11 a.m. until sold out at Our Lady of Lourdes Church on Stein Highway, Seaford. Proceeds will benefit various ministries and organizations at the church. The $8 platter includes half a chicken, baked beans, coleslaw and roll. Carnitas and sodas will also be for sale.
