Beef and Dumpling Dinner Mt. Zion Methodist Church will host a beef and dumpling dinner at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19. Carry-outs will be available at 4. The church is located on Rt. 13A between Seaford and Laurel.

Family fun at St. Stephens St. Stephens United Methodist Church will hold a Fall Festival at the church on State Street in Delmar on Saturday, Oct. 19 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be oyster fritter sandwiches by the King family, craft vendors, a yard sale, bake sale, live music by the Kings Ambassadors, homemade ice cream, a petting zoo, barrel train, hayrides and children's crafts. St. Stephens is sponsoring a Christmas Tree in State Street Park this year. The tree will have about 5,000 lights which are $5 each in honor or memory of the loved ones in your life. Christian Writer's Conference Vine & Vessels Christian Writers Fellowship will host its 5th Annual 2013 "Connecting Pen To Purpose" Christian Writer's Conference on Saturday, Oct. 19, from 8:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at Crossroad Community Church, Georgetown. National speaker, conference director, author, Marlene Bagnull, Litt.D will serve as the keynote speaker. Conference rates are $20 for youth (ages 10-18), $40 for adults (19-61) and $25 for seniors (62+). Registration packet includes two workshops, continental breakfast and lunch. Galestown Church Homecoming Galestown United Methodist Church will have a Homecoming on Sunday, Oct. 20, at 2 p.m. The Rev. Ruth Tull will be the speaker. Calvin Collins and Randy Marine will sing. Following the service there will be a buffet meal served at the Galestown Community House. All are welcome.

Oyster/Chicken Salad Dinner Centenary United Methodist Church, Poplar and Market streets, Laurel, will hold an Oyster and Chicken Salad Dinner on Saturday, Oct. 26 from 4 to 7 p.m. Cost is $13 for adults, $6 for children ages 6-12 and free for children 5 and under. Carry outs are available.

'The Case for Creation' Kyle Butt, M.A., Apologetics Press, will present his "The Case for Creation" on Nov. 1-3. He will be at Seaford Middle School Auditorium on Nov. 1-2 and Seaford Church of Christ Auditorium on Nov. 3. Butt weaves scientific and historical evidence into the Biblical model of Creation, showing that true science does not contradict an accurate reading of the Bible. Hymn Sing The Kings Ambassadors will perform at the First Baptist Church of Delmar located at 501 Bi-State Blvd., Delmar, Md., on Sunday evening, Nov. 3, at 6. Lightning Strikes concert series The Lightning Strikes concert series, at The Lighthouse Church, located at 27225 Kaye Rd., just off Rt. 9, County Seat Highway at Dukes Lumber Road, Laurel, is held every second and fourth Saturday of the month. Chicken and Dumpling Dinner The women of Woodland United Methodist Church will serve a Chicken and Dumpling Dinner at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19. Doors open at 5:30. Cost is $10. Children ages 6 to 12 are $4 and ages 5 and under are free. The church is located 4 1/2 miles west of Seaford next to the Woodland Ferry house. No carry-outs. Dinner at Mt. Nebo A dinner will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9, at Mt. Nebo Fellowship Hall in Delmar. There will be fried chicken, meat loaf, ham, dumplings, mac and cheese and mashed potatoes and gravy. Cost is $12 for adults and $6 for children. Community Action plans dinner First State Community Action Agency, a statewide non-profit helping low-income people become self-sufficient, is celebrating 48 years of service with an annual dinner and recognition ceremony, on Monday, Nov. 18, at Dover Downs Conference Center. The event, which will begin at 5:30 p.m., will feature a live auction, special music by Shades of Blue jazz ensemble, and nationally renowned preacher and educator, Dr. Tony Campolo, Ph.D. Dr. Campolo, professor emeritus of sociology at Eastern University in St. Davids, Pa., has authored 35 books and is the founder of the Evangelical Association for the Promotion of Education (EAPE).For more information about Dr. Campolo, visit www.tonycampolo.org. Fleischauer will deliver message Join us at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 20, as longtime area resident Rev. William Fleischauer delivers the message at Greenwood United Methodist church. The Rev. Fleischauer has touched many lives during his ministry and continues to do so even as a retired pastor. He is very connected to the area's history as a longtime member of Greenwood UMC and not only began Hickory Ridge Community Church, but also helped in the construction of the church that exists today on Route 13. Everyone is welcome.

Griefshare class offered Griefshare, a special seminar and group support for people grieving the loss of someone close, will be offered at Encounter Praize at Christ Lutheran Church, Seaford. Griefshare is a non-denominational group that features Biblical teaching on grief and recovery. One class will meet on Friday mornings from 9 to 11 and the second class will meet on Saturday evenings from 5 to 7 p.m. Call 629-9755 for details.
