Thanksgiving Service The public is invited to worship at Old Christ Church, Laurel, on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 27 at 10 a.m. Come as you are, dressed for the weather (the church is not heated). The Rev. Dr. Howard Backus will officiate, using a liturgy from an 18th century prayer book. A freewill offering will be taken for the preservation of Old Christ Church.

Delmar Community Carol Sing St. Stephens UMC presents the Delmar Community Carol Sing at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 7, at the Delmar High/Middle School Auditorium. After caroling, all are welcome at St. Stephens' Camelot Hall for free soup, sandwiches and cookies. Please bring a canned good for distribution to local needy.

Evening of remembrance Union United Methodist Church, Bridgeville, will host an evening of Remembrance and Celebration (previously known as Blue Holiday), at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 23, in the sanctuary. This will be an evening dedicated to those who have lost a loved one or are experiencing a difficult time due to physical, emotional health situations or financial concerns. Our hope is that during this time of prayer and fellowship these concerns may be lessened. Union recognizes that the holidays can sometimes add to an already stressful situation. After the service, a dessert reception will be held in the Children's Church Room. Please join us and invite someone you know who may be having difficulties during this season. Community Thanksgiving Dinner Union United Methodist Church in Bridgeville will hold its 16th Annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner featuring turkey and all the trimmings on Thursday, Nov. 26 beginning at noon and ending when everyone has been served. The dinner is free and open to all.

Free Clothing and Soup Kitchen Seaford Wesleyan Church sponsors a "Free Clothing and Soup Kitchen" every second Saturday of the month from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 202 North St., Seaford. Everyone is welcome. For more information, call 628-1020.

Free Thanksgiving Meal A free Thanksgiving Day meal will be held at the Lighted Pathway Family Life Center in Seaford on Thanksgiving Day from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Life Center is located at 425 E. Stein Hwy., Seaford. Everyone is invited. To volunteer or sponsor the event, call 629-8583 or attend the planning meeting on Nov. 18.

Thanksgiving for Thousands Mountaire Farms begins its 20th year as sponsor of the Thanksgiving for Thousands food drive program in Delmarva, helping families in Delaware, Maryland and Virginia enjoy a holiday meal. On Monday, Nov. 24, at 8:30 a.m., volunteers will be at the Mountaire Farms Selbyville warehouse packing 10,000 boxes of staples and a Mountaire roaster to help feed more than 45,000 individuals this holiday season. American Music Theater trip Join Christ United Methodist Church in Laurel for a trip to the American Music Theater, Lancaster, Pa., to see their Christmas Show on Friday, Dec. 5. Diabetes Walk-A-Thon Macedonia African Methodist Episcopal Church in Seaford will hold its 11th Annual Walk-A-Thon, Care for Diabetes, at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 29. Hymn Sing at St. Paul's St. Paul's UMC Church in Laurel invites the community to a night of music on Sunday, Nov. 23. This month's Hymn Sing features the music ministry of The Don Murray Family Gospel Band. Pastor Don Murray's family continues his music legacy with their unique blend of gospel music. Other family members include Carol Murray on the bass, Mindy Willing vocals and Kelly Murray Willing, lead guitar and vocals. Don's daughter, Kelly, shares humorous and inspiring stories of family and faith. Joining the group will be Dave Fluharty on lead guitar and Mark Williams on drums. A love offering will be taken. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. St. Paul's choir and soloists start the program at 5:15 and The Murray's are featured at 6.

New cookbook at Mt. Olivet Christmas is coming and Mt. Olivet UMC has just completed a new 2014 cookbook with over 300 recipes and lots of helpful information for today's cook. Cost is $12 per cookbook. Call 629-4458 between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. to reserve your cookbook for Christmas delivery.

Monthly writers' group Have you always wished you could write stories, articles or even a book, but don't know how to begin? Have you drafted manuscripts, but need help getting them published? Whether you are a novice or have achieved success in writing, you are invited to join Kingdom Writers Fellowship. Mustard Seed Christmas Open House On Saturday, Nov. 22 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Mustard Seed in Milford will hold its annual Christmas Open House. The first 25 visitors will receive a free gift. Complimentary refreshments will be offered including hot wassail cider and baked goods. There will be special discounts on selected products as well as live praise and worship music throughout the day presented by local musicians.

Second Wind Ministries at St. John's Thom and Debbie Slaughter of "Second Wind Ministries" will be at St. John's United Methodist Church on Sunday, Nov. 23 at 10 a.m. In 2014, Debbie and Thom have made over 130 appearances at churches, campgrounds and senior centers sharing the Good News of God's grace and salvation in both song and testimony. Debbie will share her compelling testimony of God's healing and hope as a 9/11 cancer survivor while Thom will lead the congregation in singing many foundational hymns.

Griefshare at St. John's Griefshare is being offered by St. John's United Methodist Church, 300 N. Pine St., Seaford, from 4-5:30 p.m., in the Wesley Lounge.
