Open Mic Christian Night

Open Mic Christian Night, sponsored by Compassionate Shepherd Ministries, will be held on Friday, Aug. 7 from 7-9 p.m. at The Lighthouse Church in Laurel. Dean is back, bringing an array of newcomers and all of our favorites.
Everyone is welcome to join us for a full night of gospel and praising. Free admission and snacks.

Events at St. Stephens UMC

The following events will take place at St. Stephens UMC in Delmar.
Sunday, Sept. 13 - All you eat Beef and Dumplings Dinner - 12:30 - 4 p.m., VFW, Delmar, Md. $14 for adults.
Saturday, Oct. 17 - Fall Festival - 8 a.m. - 3 p.m., Camelot Hall. Joins us for a great day of family fun, food and singing. There will be oyster fritters, homemade ice cream, soups, hot dogs and crafts for sale.
Sunday, Nov. 29 - 3rd Annual Community Love Light Tree, Lighting Ceremony, 6 p.m., State Street Park, Delmar. Buy a light to remember a loved one. Come out and see the tree light up the park with 7,000 lights. See your loved ones names on our banner. Singing and hot chocolate.
Saturday, Dec. 19 - Bus Trip to Sight and Sound to see Miracle of Christmas. Cost is $90 for adults and $50 for ages 3-12. All money due by Oct. 15. Make checks payable to Dawn Turner.

Living Proof Simulcast

Union United Methodist, 2 N. Laws St., Bridgeville, is currently the only church on the Delmarva Peninsula hosting this years Living Proof Simulcast with Beth Moore. The simulcast takes place from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 12. Seating is limited and will fill up quickly. Call the church office at 337-7409 to reserve your spot before Aug. 21. The simulcast, lunch and other activities are included with your ticket purchase.

Back to School Service

Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church in Delmar will hold a Back to School Service at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 16. School supplies will be given to all youth present. Rainbows for Children, Griefshare

St. Johns United Methodist Church, 300 Pine St., Seaford, is offering Rainbows for Children, ages 9-14. This is a volunteer program which helps children cope with loss due to separation, divorce, death or deployment. Due to the nature of the program preregistration is required. The program will last 45 minutes for 13 weeks. Parents are invited to join us at the introductory season on Sunday, Sept. 13. Call 245-7012 or 629-9466 by Aug. 24, to register.
St. Johns is also offering Griefshare starting Sept. 13 at 4:30 p.m. This 90-minute program is a 13 week support group for people who are grieving the loss of someone close to them. Each Griefshare session includes a video, group discussion and workbook to assist with note taking. Since you do not have to attend sessions in order, you are welcome to begin attending Griefshare at any session. Topics include Living with Grief, Journey of Grief, Why, Stuck in Grief and Heaven. VBS at Christ Lutheran

The BSSP Program at Christ Lutheran Church, 315 N. Shipley St., Seaford, will host its summer Vacation Bible School program on Aug. 10-14, for mentally challenged youth and adults. The theme is Camp Discovery - Jesus at Work Through Us.
Students will learn that Jesus is our true north. Students will sing, pray and learn that Jesus provides the courage, wisdom and love we need to discover Gods plan and purpose for our lives, right now, right where we are.
A light dinner with be served daily from 6-6:30 p.m. Class is from 6:30-8 p.m. Bible stories will be told by a storyteller, along with puppets, music, games and crafts.

VBS at Church of God

Church of God of Prophecy, 22699 Bridgeville Hwy., Seaford; will hold Vacation Bible School on Aug. 10-12 from 6-8 p.m. for children ages 3-12. This years theme is Journey to the Manger. Each night the story will come to life with drama along with singing, crafts, recreation and snacks. For more information, call 629-7446.

Vacation Bible School

The Anchormen in concert

Fam Jam Family VBS

Laurel Wesleyan Church will hold Fam Jam Family VBS, Gettin Geared Up to GO!, Aug. 12-14 from 6-8 p.m. Register online at www.laurelwesleyan.org or call the office at 875-5380.
Wacky Water VBS Wrap Up will be held at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 16. There will be one family worship service followed by free food and water fun.

St. Johns to hold school supply drive

St. Johns United Methodist Church in Seaford is holding its 15th annual school supplies drive. The drive started the first week in July and will run through Sunday, Aug. 16.
Last year nearly $7,000 in supplies were collected for needy Seaford students. We challenge everyone to come together for our kids because theyre our tomorrows leaders, said school drive coordinator Ruth Rhoades.
Families in need of school supplies for children are encouraged to go to their schools guidance office to find out how to receive supplies from the drive. All the supplies collected by St. Johns stays in Seaford.
The communities of Georgetown, Greenwood, Laurel, Delmar, and Bridgeville have there own school supply drives. St. Johns will pack up its supplies on Monday, Aug. 17.
