Fall Clothing Giveaway

A Fall Clothing Giveaway with free clothing for infants through adults will be held at Laurel Church of Christ from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Aug. 29. Clothing is given to anyone in need and is not to be taken for resale. The church is located at 1010 S. Central Ave. For more information, call 875-7748.

Ice Cream Sale canceled

Mt. Zion Methodist Church on Rt. 13A has canceled its August Ice Cream Sale. The community house is currently under renovations that will not be completed in time for the August sale. The next sale will be held in May 2016.

Community Prayer Breakfast

A free Community Prayer Breakfast will be held on Saturday, Aug. 15 at Church of God and Saints of Christ in Seaford. Doors open at 8 a.m. and prayer begins at 8:30. Everyone is welcome. Large groups are asked to call ahead - 212-9784 - so we can prepare.

Scholarships awarded

The Seaford Church of Christ announces the recipients of its 2015 scholarships.
Christine Poisson received $2,500 for her studies at Ohio Valley University in Vienna, W.V. A first-time recipient, she is a freshman at OVU.
Emily Ruth Giboney received $3,000 for her studies at Harding University in Searcy, Ark. A third-time recipient, she is a junior continuing her studies in nursing.
Cassidy Thompson received $500 for her second year at Frederick Community College in Frederick, Md.

Agape Anniversary Celebration

Agape Temple International Ministries 9th Anniversary Celebration will be held on Saturday, Sept. 12 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Greenwood. Registration, which is $20, is required. Continental breakfast, lunch and materials included. Contact Nadine Henry at 398-0678.

Gospel Sing

Gospel Sing at Shiloh Community Church at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 16, featuring Rebecca Canterbury, Christian vocalist. Refreshments will be served afterwards.

St. Stephens events

Community Love Light Tree Lighting Ceremony - Nov. 29, 6 p.m., State Street Park, Delmar. Singing, hot chocolate. See our tree light up the park with 7,000 lights. See your loved ones names on a banner. Buy a light to remember/honor your loved one.

Living Proof Simulcast

Union United Methodist, 2 N. Laws St., Bridgeville, is currently the only church on the Delmarva Peninsula hosting this year's Living Proof Simulcast with Beth Moore. The simulcast takes place from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 12. Seating is limited and will fill up quickly. Call the church office at 337-7409 to reserve your spot before Aug. 21. The simulcast, lunch and other activities are included with your ticket purchase.

Back to School Service

Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church in Delmar will hold a Back to School Service at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 16. School supplies will be given to all youth present. Rainbows for Children, Griefshare

St. Johns United Methodist Church, 300 Pine St., Seaford, is offering Rainbows for Children, ages 9-14. This is a volunteer program which helps children cope with loss due to separation, divorce, death or deployment. Due to the nature of the program preregistration is required. The program will last 45 minutes for 13 weeks. Parents are invited to join us at the introductory season on Sunday, Sept. 13. Call 245-7012 or 629-9466 by Aug. 24, to register. St. John's is also offering Griefshare starting Sept. 13 at 4:30 p.m. This 90-minute program is a 13 week support group for people who are grieving the loss of someone close to them. Each Griefshare session includes a video, group discussion and workbook to assist with note taking. Since you do not have to attend sessions in order, you are welcome to begin attending Griefshare at any session. Topics include Living with Grief, Journey of Grief, Why, Stuck in Grief and Heaven. St. John's to hold school supply drive

St. John's United Methodist Church in Seaford is holding its 15th annual school supplies drive. The drive started the first week in July and will run through Sunday, Aug. 16.
Last year nearly $7,000 in supplies were collected for needy Seaford students. We challenge everyone to come together for our kids because they're our tomorrow's leaders, said school drive coordinator Ruth Rhoades.
Families in need of school supplies for children are encouraged to go to their school's guidance office to find out how to receive supplies from the drive. All the supplies collected by St. John's stays in Seaford.
The communities of Georgetown, Greenwood, Laurel, Delmar, and Bridgeville have there own school supply drives. St. John's will pack up its supplies on Monday, Aug. 17.
