Churches merge congregations Abundant Life Christian Church has joined services with Christ the Cornerstone Community Church located at the corner of Bethel and Seaford roads. Sunday services are at 8:30 and 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Pastor Rick Elzey has retired and Pastor Shawn Willey is the new pastor with a view towards growth and community service. A community gathering - Family Movie Night - will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 25. The movie Do You Believe will be shown and refreshments will be served. Everyone is welcome.

BBQ chicken and carnitas Join us on Saturday, Sept. 19 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. for great food, conviviality and fellowship at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 528 E. Stein Hwy., Seaford. This event is hosted by The Knights of Columbus, their families, parishioners and priests Father Clement and Father Paul to welcome new members and visit with church family. The menu includes BBQ chicken and carnitas served with baked beans, roll, cole slaw and dessert. Everyone is welcome to join us.

Griefshare at St. John's St. John's United Methodist Church, 300 N. Pine St., Seaford, will offer Griefshare in the Wesley Lounge from 4-5:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 20. This session, The Challenges of Grief, will present the overlooked yet common effects grief has on the mind, body and spirit. If you are living with grief we invite you to join us for this 13 week nondenominational journey, From Mourning to Joy. To register, call 629-9466. No children as childcare is not provided.

Homecoming at Providence UM Providence United Methodist Church located at 24969 Shortly Rd., Georgetown, will hold a Homecoming service at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 4. Guest speaker will be retired Methodist minister Wayne Grier. Special music will be presented by gospel singers Jerry and Jeannie Jones. A covered dish dinner will follow the service. Hymn Sing St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Laurel invites the community to this month's Hymn Sing featuring The Watson's at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 27. Greg and Teresa Watson are talented singers, musicians and songwriters who have worked professionally and recorded in Nashville, Tenn. Over the years, the couple has worked with many well-known artists. Come enjoy their unique blend of bluegrass/country gospel singing. A love offering will be taken to benefit their music ministry.

Food pantry benefit luncheon Sailors Bethel UM Church in Bethel will hold a luncheon on Saturday, Oct. 10 at the Bethel Community House and Town Hall Building located at 7769 Main St., from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The town and church hope to help Social Services in Laurel fill their food pantry for the coming holidays. Come join us for lunch and bring a canned food item. Lunch consists of cream of crap and vegetable beef soup, chicken salad or tavern ham and cheese sandwiches and cupcakes. Everyone is invited to come help us help others.

Free Spaghetti Dinner All bikers are welcome to attend a spaghetti dinner at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 20 at the Christian Church of Seaford, 22581 Sussex Hwy. (across from Harley Davidson) A free spaghetti dinner will be served to the first 160 in attendance. For more information, call 629-6298.

Prayer Breakfast Church of God and Saints of Christ, 10016 Concord Rd., Seaford, will hold a free prayer breakfast at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 19. Everyone is welcome.

Events at St. Stephen's UMC The following events will take place at St. Stephen's UMC in Delmar. Sunday, Sept. 20 - Harvest Ministries Spaghetti Dinner at the VFW in Delmar, Md. - all you can eat, 1-3 p.m. and silent auction. Cost is $10. Saturday, Oct. 17 - Fall Festival - 8 a.m. - 3 p.m., Camelot Hall. Join us for a great day of family fun, food and singing. There will be oyster fritters, homemade ice cream, soups, hot dogs and crafts for sale. The Kings Ambassadors and the Home Land Singers will perform.

Sunday, Nov. 29 - 3rd Annual Community Love Light Tree, Lighting Ceremony, 6 p.m., State Street Park, Delmar. Buy a light to remember a loved one. Come out and see the tree light up the park with 7,000 lights. See your loved ones' names on our banner. Singing and hot chocolate. Buy a light and remember a loved one. Saturday, Dec. 19 - Bus Trip to Sight and Sound to see Miracle of Christmas. Cost is $90 for adults and $50 for ages 3-12. All money due by Oct. 15. Make checks payable to Dawn Turner. Donations are needed for Operation We Care which sends supplies to troops overseas. In September and October, please bring pop-top cans of ravioli and spaghettios. Open Mic Christian Night Open Mic Christian Night sponsored by Compassionate Shepherd Ministries is Friday, Sept. 18 from 7-9 p.m. at The Lighthouse Church, 27225 Kaye Rd., Laurel. This 'Fall Preview Praise Night' will feature a full night of gospel with Frank Silva, Roger Shiles, Dottie Lynch and more. Free admission and snacks. Powerlifting and faith Lifted in Faith, a Christian group that performs feats of strength in its programs, will be in Delaware Sept. 16 through 21. Justin Isaacs, a Seaford native and a member of the Louisiana-based group, will be included in the performances. Locally, Lifted in Faith will perform on Sept. 17, 7 p.m., at Crossroad Community Church, 20684 State Forest Road, Georgetown; on Sept. 18, 7 p.m., at Uprising Church, Hebron, Md., where Isaacs is a member; and Sept. 19, 6 p.m., at the Central Worship Center, 14545 Sycamore Road, Laurel. Walk to Emmaus The Seaford Walk to Emmaus Gathering & Sponsorship Training will be held on Sunday, Sept. 20 at St. John's Church Fellowship Hall in Seaford. The schedule includes a covered dish dinner (chicken provided) at 4:30 p.m., sponsorship training session at 5:30 p.m. and gathering with 4th Day speaker at 6:30 p.m. Call St. John's church office at 629-9466 to confirm dinner attendance.

Worship and a Picnic at St. Luke's St. Luke's Church invites everyone to Worship and a Picnic on the Nanticoke River, at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 20. Sunday worship services will be held at Pastor Marianne Ell's home on the Nanticoke at 26820 River Rd. Following morning worship, we will have a picnic lunch. Bring a dish to share. Meats and soft drinks will be furnished. The picnic worship will be at 10 a.m. There will not be a worship service at the church that day.

Gospel Concert St. George's United Methodist Church, 34894 St. George Rd., Delmar, will host an outdoor gospel concert - bring your own lawn chair - at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 19. In the event of rain, the concert will be held in the church. Singers will be Kings Ambassadors, Bay City and Greg and Teresa Watson from Nashville. Hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, desserts, soda and bottled water will be available for purchase. Everyone is welcome. Come prepared to receive a blessing.

Gospel music at Park Lane On Saturday, Sept. 26 at 5 p.m., Park Lane Church of God in Federalsburg, Md. will welcome the following gospel singers: The Joy Boyz, Nashville, Tenn.; Brooklyn All Stars, Brooklyn, N.Y.; Preacher Pap -n- The Gospel Invisibles, Newark, N.J.; Gospel Souls, Federalsburg; Carolyn Veney Spence, Baltimore, Md.; and Gospel Deliverers, Cambridge, Md.
