Open Mic Christian Night Open Mic Christian Night sponsored by Compassionate Shepherd Ministries will be held on Friday, Oct. 2, from 7-9 p.m. at The Lighthouse Church in Laurel. Join us for cake as we celebrate our four year anniversary during Surprises, Prizes & Praise Night. Spend a relaxing evening listening to some new gospel singers and your favorites. Very special guests will make an appearance. There will be music you will truly enjoy with a touch of comedy. It will be a full night of gospel with Frank Silva, Roger Shiles, Dottie Lynch and more. Free Car Wash Christian Church of Seaford, 22581 Sussex Hwy. (across from Harley Davidson) will hold a free Car Wash from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3.

Blessing of the Animals The annual Blessing of the Animals will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 4 on the church grounds located at 2 N. William St. Bring your furry, squirmy, feathered friends for prayer and blessing.

Human trafficking talk The Great Commission Women of Atlanta Road Alliance Church in Seaford invite area women to hear Yolanda Schlabach, executive director of Zoe Ministries, speak about human trafficking in Delaware and how God has called her to fight this evil. The talk, End Human Trafficking Now, will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 13. Admission is free.

Flu Clinic St. Paul's UMC Church in Laurel, in partnership with Rite Aid Pharmacy, will host a Flu Clinic for the community on Saturday, Oct. 17 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Preregistration is required. Griefshare at St. John's Griefshare will be offered at St. John's United Methodist Church in Seaford from 4-5:30 p.m. in the Wesley Lounge. The Journey of Grief Part 2 will show how the events surrounding their loved one's death affect their grief and how to put an effort into the healing. Ryan & Friends Ryan & Friends (ventriloquist and comedian) will appear at Atlanta Road Alliance Church in Seaford at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17.

Whether it's his laugh-crazed family show or his dynamic corporate gigs, there are two things Ryan's audiences have come to expect: a flawlessly clean show and sidesplitting comedy! Delmar Church of God Sandwich Sale The Delmar Church of God of Prophecy will hold a sandwich sale on Saturday, Oct. 10 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The church is located on Route 13 North and Dorothy Road in Laurel, three miles north of the Maryland/Delaware state line. The sale will feature oyster sandwiches, crab cakes, soft crabs, chicken salad and more. There will also be baked goods, homemade ice cream, and soups. Cokesbury U.M. Church Homecoming Cokesbury United Methodist Church, located near Reliance, will hold its Homecoming on Oct. 11 at 2 p.m. The speaker will be Paster Scot McClymont, Director of the Young Peoples Ministry in the Peninsula-Delaware Conference and special music will be provided by Good News Tour. Homecoming at Providence UM Providence United Methodist Church located at 24969 Shortly Rd., Georgetown, will hold a Homecoming service at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 4. Guest speaker will be retired Methodist minister Wayne Grier. Special music will be presented by gospel singers Jerry and Jeannie Jones. A covered dish dinner will follow the service. Christ Lutheran, Thrivent Financial to hold chicken dinner fundraiser Christ Lutheran Church in conjunction with Thrivent Financial will be holding an Em-ings chicken dinner fundraiser on Saturday, Oct. 17 at 5 p.m. The event will also include live music by Harvest Harmony" and a silent auction. The menu will feature half a barbecued chicken with unlimited sides, fresh buns, multiple desserts, tea, coffee, lemonade and bottled water. Sides include barbecued baked beans, macaroni and cheese, greed beans and a garden salad. The sot is $10 per person, payable at the door. Proceeds will benefit the Christ Lutheran Church Food Shelf/Needy People Fund."

Gospel Cafe The Gospel Cafe will be held at Christ Evangelistic Church in Laurel at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3. Dinner by Marilyn's Catering will be held at 5 p.m. Dinner tickets are $10 each and include an entree, dessert and drink. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Teen Challenge. Food pantry benefit luncheon Sailors Bethel UM Church in Bethel will hold a luncheon on Saturday, Oct. 10 at the Bethel Community House and Town Hall Building located at 7769 Main St., from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The town and church hope to help Social Services in Laurel fill their food pantry for the coming holidays. Come join us for lunch and bring a canned food item. Lunch consists of cream of crab and vegetable beef soup, chicken salad or tavern ham and cheese sandwiches and cupcakes. Everyone is invited to come help us help others.
