Christian Church celebrates 50 years The Christian Church of Seaford, 22581 Sussex Hwy., invites the community to its 50th anniversary celebration on Sunday, Nov. 8. Ray Bennett, founding church evangelist, will speak at 10 a.m. and the worship service will follow at 10:30. A spaghetti dinner will be held at 6 p.m. after the evening service. A weeklong celebration will be held nightly at 7, Monday through Friday.

Tailgate for Jesus Mt. Olivet UMC welcomes the community to their annual Tailgate for Jesus on Sunday, Nov. 8. Kickoff is noon in the church parking lot at 315 High St., Seaford. Great tailgate food prepared by the men and women of Mt. Olivet UMC will be served. Tickets will be available for the Mt. Olivet Father-Daughter Dance held at Seaford High School. All are welcome to join us as we celebrate Jesus!

Homecoming at Woodland UMC Woodland United Methodist Church will hold its annual Homecoming Service at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 8. The church is located at 5123 Woodland Church Rd., next to the Woodland Ferry house. Guest speaker will be the Rev. Tom Gross and special music will be provided by Jerry and Jeannie Jones. All are welcome. A covered dish dinner will follow in Fellowship Hall.

Chinese Auction at St. Philip's St. Philip's Episcopal Church in Laurel will holds its 10th Annual Chinese Auction on Saturday, Nov. 14. Doors to Memorial Hall will open at 5 p.m. Chili, hot dogs, desserts and beverages will be sold. The auction will begin at 6 p.m. Everyone is welcome to join us for a fun filled evening. Griefshare at St. John's Griefshare is being offered by St. John's United Methodist Church, 300 N. Pine St., Seaford, at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 1, in the Wesley Lounge. We will learn how complicating factors affect grief and how to deal with nightmares and flashbacks. If you are living in grief we invite you to join us for the 13 week nondenominational journey, From Mourning to Joy. Call 629-9466 to register. No children as childcare is not provided.

Joy Night The Seaford Clarence Street Church of God will hold a Joy Night service at 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 13 and Saturday, Nov. 14. All are welcome. A free will offering will be taken. The church is located at 743 Clarence St., Seaford.

Community Thrift Shop St. John's UMC Community Thrift Shop located at 259 Conwell St., Seaford, is open to the public every Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon with great prices for gently used merchandise including kitchen and linen items and clothing for all ages. Come and browse all of our Christmas items. Half-price sales, storewide, are held the first Saturday of each month. Donations are gratefully accepted every Thursday from 1-3 p.m.

Father Daughter Dance Mount Olivet's annual Father Daughter Dance will be held on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016 from 7-9:30 p.m. at Seaford High School. Tickets will be available for purchase at Mount Olivet during Seaford's First Saturday event on Saturday, Nov. 7 from noon to 5 p.m. and during Mount Olivet's Tailgate event after the 11 a.m. service on Sunday, Nov. 8. After that, tickets will be available at Posey Palace and on The Bridge's website. Tickets are $10 prior to Dec. 25 and $15 after. Get your tickets early as the event has sold out in previous years.

Free Thanksgiving Dinner Bethel United Methodist Church at Oak Grove invites everyone to the 8th annual free Thanksgiving dinner at noon on Thursday, Nov. 26. There is only one seating at noon. The church is located west of Seaford at 2381 Neals School Road.

Fall Festival at Mt. Pleasant Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, Laurel, will hold its Fall Festival on Saturday, Oct. 31 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Join us for oyster sandwiches made by the King Family, hot dogs, homemade soup, homemade ice cream and a baked goods table. Gospel Concert and Lasagna Dinner The Homeland Singers will sing in the new year with its Annual Gospel Concert and Lasagna Dinner on New Year's Eve, Thursday, Dec. 31, at St. Stephen's United Methodist Church in Delmar. Dinner starts at 5 p.m. and the concert starts at 7. Singers include Jack Andrews, Triple Praise and The Homeland Singers and guest. The menu includes dinner, salad, drinks, desserts and coffee. Delmarva Ramblers concert Delmar First Baptist Church, Delmar, Md., will hold a gospel concert featuring the Delmarva Ramblers on Sunday, Nov. 8 at 6 p.m. Bring your friends and join us for some good 'ole Southern Gospel music.
