Rev. Bowden joins Mt. Olivet Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church in Seaford welcomes the Rev. Christine Bowden. Born in Wilmington, Pastor Christine has lived in Delaware, Argentina, Germany, New York and Ohio. She earned a bachelor's degree in history from Oberlin College in Ohio. Prior to her call to the ministry, she worked for the DuPont Company in Wilmington. She earned her Master of Divinity from Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C. Pastor Christine has served at Wingate-St. Thomas Charge, Dorchester County, Md. and Kent Island UMC in Queen Anne's County, Md. Before coming to Mt. Olivet, she served at Long Neck UMC in Millsboro for 12 years. Pastor Christine is married to Stephen Bowden and has two grown sons and two grandchildren.

Community Prayer Breakfast Church of God and Saints of Christ in Seaford will hold a Community Prayer Breakfast in the church dining hall on Saturday, Nov. 21. Coat Closet open Christian Church of Seaford Coat Closet is open the first and third Wednesday of each month from 4 to 6 p.m. The church is located across from Harley Davidson, 22581 Sussex Hwy., Seaford.

Southern Gospel Singing The Kings Ambassadors will perform at Delmar First Baptist Church, Delmar, Md., at 6 p.m. on Sunday night, Dec. 6. Griefshare at St. John's Griefshare will be offered at St. John's United Methodist Church, 300 N. Pine St., Seaford, from 4-5:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 29, in the Wesley Lounge. No one grieves perfectly and grief teaches us about our relationships since the loved one is gone. Hymn Sing at St. Paul's St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Laurel invites the community to a Hymn Sing featuring the music ministry of The Don Murray Family on Sunday, Nov. 29 at 5 p.m. Pastor Don Murray's family continues his legacy of music with their unique blend of gospel music. Family members include Carol Murray on the bass, Mindy Willing vocals and Kelly Murray Willing, lead guitar and vocals. Don's daughter, Kelly, shares humorous and inspiring stories of family and faith. St. Paul's own choir and soloists will open the program. A love offering will be taken. Thanksgiving Celebration The Federalsburg Ministerial Association will hold its Annual Community Thanksgiving Celebration at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 22, at New Liberty Wesleyan Church located on Federalsburg-Bridgeville Highway. Everyone is welcome. Keynote speaker will be the Rev. Stanford Ricks of First Apostolic Church. Special music will be provided by Church of God of Prophecy in Federalsburg. Candlelight, Ribbon Memorial Service Park Lane Church of God, 209 Park Ln., Federalsburg, will host its 4th Annual We Remember Candlelight and Ribbon Memorial Service, at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 6. Keynote speaker will be Michael Eskow of Framptom Funeral Home. Music will be provided by Sarah Leimbach. For anyone who has suffered the loss of a child, this one hour service includes a devotional, prayer, reading of the names and hanging ribbons outside on an evergreen tree. Free Thanksgiving Dinner Bethel United Methodist Church at Oak Grove invites everyone to the 8th annual free Thanksgiving dinner at noon on Thursday, Nov. 26. There is only one seating at noon. The church is located west of Seaford at 2381 Neals School Road.

Auction at Zoar UMC Zoar United Methodist Church in Millsboro will hold an auction on Saturday, Nov. 21, to benefit the church's scholarship fund and needy family fund. The auction will feature collectibles, antiques, and great gifts, plus a variety of baked goods just in time for Thanksgiving. Fried Chicken Dinner New Hope United Methodist Church in Wilards, Md., will hold an All-You-Can-Eat Fried Chicken Dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 21, at the church. The menu includes mashed potatoes, greens, string beans, macaroni and cheese, beets, biscuits, dessert and coffee. Cost is $12 for adults and carry-outs will be available. Father Daughter Dance Mount Olivet's annual Father Daughter Dance will be held on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016 from 7-9:30 p.m. at Seaford High School. Tickets will be available at Posey Palace and on The Bridge's website. Tickets are $10 prior to Dec. 25 and $15 after. Get your tickets early as the event has sold out in previous years.

Gospel Concert and Lasagna Dinner The Homeland Singers will sing in the new year with its Annual Gospel Concert and Lasagna Dinner on New Year's Eve, Thursday, Dec. 31, at St. Stephen's United Methodist Church in Delmar. Christmas Concert at Grace UMC Nationally known recording artists Mercy's Well will present a Christmas Concert at Grace UMC in Millsboro on Friday, Dec. 4 at 7 p.m. Free admission but a free will offering will be taken.
