Mother's Day Celebration

The Gospel Cafe is back and we will celebrate Mother's Day at 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 7, at Christ Evangelistic Church, Camp Road, Laurel.
Dinner, which will be catered by My Turn to Cook, will be held at 5 p.m. Cost is $10 per person.

Griefshare at St. John's

Griefshare will be offered on Sunday, May 8 from 4-5:30 p.m., at St John's United Methodist Church, 300 N. Pine St., Seaford, in the Wesley Lounge. The path to healing is not always smooth and we need to keep ourselves from getting stuck in grief.
If you are living in grief we invite you to join us for the 13 week nondenominational journey, From Mourning to Joy.
No children please as childcare is not offered.

Open Mic Christian Night

Open Mic Christian Night will be held on Friday, May 6 from 7-9 p.m. at Compassionate Shepherd Ministries, 10771, Rt. 13, across from the Laurel Food Lion.
Dean will be back to host at 'Bring a Friend Night.' Special guest will be Bud Scott. Some new singers will also join us along with our regulars. Admission and snacks are free and a love offering will be taken.

Strawberry Festival

Bethel United Methodist Church at Oak Grove will hold a Strawberry Festival on Saturday, May 21 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 2381 Neals School Rd., Seaford.
Enjoy yard sale tables, games, face painting, animals, crafters and good food, including hot dogs, hamburgers, drinks and homemade strawberry desserts. Fresh strawberries will also be available for sale.
This is a real family affair with plenty of parking! Proceeds will benefit the nurture, outreach and witness efforts of the church.

Victory Junction

Victory Junction - where God & music meet - will be held on Saturday, May 14, from 6-8:30 p.m., at Long Neck UMC, 32051 Long Neck Rd., Millsboro. Guest singers include Loretta Brooks, David Morgan and Joe Dawson.
Everyone is welcome to join us for an evening of fellowship, good gospel music and fun. Free refreshments.

John Wesley Annual Women's Day

John Wesley United Methodist Church of Seafordwill hold its Annual Women's Day event at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 15. Guest preacher Pastor Tesha Miller from Macedonia AME Church of Seaford will be accompanied by the church choir.
Everyone is welcome.
Dinner will be served after the afternoon service at the Parish Hall.

Yard Sale at Bethel Worship

The Bethel Worship Center Church, 26648 Sussex Hwy., Seaford, will hold a Yard Sale on Saturday, May 21 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Rain date is Saturday, June 4 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Hot breakfast sandwiches (scrapple and egg) and coffee will be available from 6:30-11 a.m.
Yard sale donations will be accepted on May 18-20 from 6-8 p.m. Checks may be made payable to BWC Building Fund.

Because Jesus Loves You fundraiser

Members of Because Jesus Loves You Ministries, Inc. are conducting their 2015-2016 Building Relationships fundraiser through May 15.All proceeds will be used towards the construction of a community resource center in Ellendale.
A black-tie gala will be held on Saturday, May 7, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Rollins Center, Dover Downs Hotel and Casino, Dover.Meet other community partners of the ministry and hear the plans for the community resource center.

Annual Spring Concert

The Old Christ Church League will hold its annual Spring Concert at Old Christ Church in Laurel at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 15.
Twenty members of the Southern Delaware Chorale will perform selections byAmerican composers. There will be a variety of musical styles, including folk music, patriotic and other musical selections.
Built in 1771, the church is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Come and enjoy a delightful concert in a tranquil setting on Chipman Pond.

Anniversary celebration

Help celebrate Ross Point Freedom Church pastor's seventh anniversary on Sunday, May 29 at 3:30 p.m. The celebration will be held in the Church of God & Saints of Christ building. Pre-Mother's Day Service

Clarence Street Church of God, 744 E. Clarence St., Seaford, will hold a Pre-Mother's Day Service on Saturday, May 7 at 6 p.m. sharp.
Sisters by Choice of Elseys United Methodist Church, Jesterville, Md., will perform. A free will offering will be taken.
Prizes will be given to the oldest mother, youngest mother, and mother with the most children. Must be present to win.

Father's Day Dinner Concert

Church of God and Saints of Christ, 10016 Concord Rd., Seaford, will hold a Father's Day Dinner Concert featuring the Sussex Community Gospel Mass Choir at 4 p.m. on Father's Day, Sunday, June 19.
The menu will feature BBQ ribs, fried and baked chicken, honey baked ham, green beans, seasoned greens, macaroni and cheese, cabbage, baked beans, fresh brewed iced tea, punch and assorted desserts.

National Day of Prayer Service

This year's National Day of Prayer Service, 'Wake Up, America,' based on Isaiah 58:1, will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 5, at Graham AME Church on North First Street in Greenwood.
As a special outreach for homeless veterans or any veteran - male and female - in need, new socks in original packaging will be collected. No used socks, please. Socks may be any color or style: anklets, crew, or over the calf. A collection box will be placed at the door.
