Prayer for our schools program A special outreach program of the National Day of Prayer Task Force Committee for the Greenwood area announces a Celebration of Prayer for Our Schools at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 28, at Greenwood United Methodist Church. Pastor Doug Harbaugh of Greenwood UMC will be the keynote speaker. Area coordinator is Dr. Michaele Russell, Dept. of DE VFW Auxiliary chaplain and secretary of Greenwood Memorial VFW Auxiliary Post 7478. During the event, area ministers will offer prayers for our schools for the upcoming school year and provide music. A free will offering will be taken for the Food for Back Pack Ministry sponsored by Greenwood UMC. Checks may be made payable to: Greenwood UMC and earmarked "Food for Back Packs." A fellowship hour will immediately follow the service. The public is invited to attend. To participate in the event, area ministers are asked to contact Dr. Russell at 349-4220.

VBS at First Baptist The First Baptist Church of Delmar will host its annual Vacation Bible School on Aug. 1-4 from 6:30-8:15 p.m. This year's theme is "Christmas in August." Ages three and up are welcome. Snacks will be provided. Bring a friend and come join us as we wind down the summer.

VBS at Blades UMC Blades United Methodist Church, 306 S. Market St., Blades, will have Vacation Bible School, "Bible Blast to the Past," on Aug. 8-12 from 6-8 p.m. Kids ages three through 12 are invited to participate in Bible-learning activities, songs and games, and enjoy yummy treats. VBS for Mentally Challenged The BSSP program at Christ Lutheran Church, 315 N. Shipley Street in Seaford, will host its summer Vacation Bible School program on Aug. 8-12 for mentally challenged youth and adults. The theme is "Barnyard Roundup- Jesus Gathers Us Together". At "Barnyard Roundup" we will learn that Jesus, our Savior, cares, proves, leads and forgives us! Students will sing, pray, and learn through five farm-tastic Bible accounts that teach us how God is with us, provides for all our needs, and protects us now and forever! A light dinner will be served from 6-6:30 p.m. Class is from 6:30-8 p.m. Bible stories will be told by a storyteller, along with puppets, music, games, and crafts. Clothing giveaway at Laurel Church of Christ A clothing giveaway will take place at the Laurel Church of Christ (1010 S. Central Avenue in Laurel) on Saturday, Aug. 20 from 10 a.m. to noon. Faithcraft Family VBS Laurel Wesleyan Church, 30186 Seaford Rd., Alt. 13, Laurel, will have a Family Style VBS experience from 5:30-8 p.m., Aug. 17-19. Camp Meeting Weekend Camp Meeting Weekend will be held at John Wesley UMC, Seaford, Friday, July 29 through Sunday, July 31. Each day enjoy food vendors, rummage sales, and activities for children and adults. The Mighty Men of Mount Calvary will be in concert on Friday night at 6:30. A motorcycle show followed by a car show will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 30. Enjoy singing and preaching by Mount Nebo congregation at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.

The Rev. Gertrude Brown of Shiloh UMC, Pocomoke, Md., will preach at 11 a.m. on Sunday, July 31.

EHM seeks support for events Everlasting Hope Ministries (EHM) seeks support for its 23rd Annual Anti-Alcohol & Drug Tent Services on Aug. 16-18 & 21 and its Annual Community Anti-Drug March on Saturday, Aug. 20. Tent services will take place at 7 nightly and 11:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Sunday and will feature many area ministers. The march will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday. Everlasting Hope Ministries (EHM) was established in 1993 to help individuals who have fallen prey to drug and alcohol addictions. In addition to these annual events, EHM provides transportation, job searches, mentoring, and housing which includes Tony's House, a temporary shelter for individuals in transition back into the community. Everlasting Hope Ministries would like to provide a variety of items - health care products, toiletries, educational literature, t-shirts with positive healthy messages, etc. - for free to event attendees. Funds are also needed to purchase food for both events. The Anti-Drug Rally & March, "It's Time to Move," starts and ends at 10 Booker St., Georgetown, and features special characters, entertainment, food, music and games at no cost. Between 400 to 500 marchers are expected to participate. Donations to underwrite the costs of these activities are welcome and greatly appreciated. Your tax deductible donation will be used solely to purchase materials and supplies to promote the group's anti-drug message. Checks should be made payable to Everlasting Hope Ministries. VBS at St. Paul's UMC St. Paul's UMC, 37827 Old Stage Rd., Laurel, will have Vacation Bible School on Aug. 1-5 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. This year's theme is Deep Sea Discovery. VBS at Wesley UMC Wesley United Methodist Church, 22025 Atlanta Rd., Seaford, will hold Vacation Bible School on Aug. 1-5 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. for children in kindergarten through fifth grade.
