Patriot Day Event Sunday, September 11, marks the 15th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on America. Wheatley Methodist Church in Galestown will hold a Patriot & National Day of Service and Remembrance event at 2 p.m. on Sept. 11, to honor the memory of the nearly 3,000 victims, law enforcement and first responders who perished during the search and recovery activities. The event will also honor the memory of our fallen military heroes and demonstrate our support for our military, law enforcement, and first responders who currently serve, or have served defending our freedom and assuring public safety. EHM seeks support for events Everlasting Hope Ministries (EHM) seeks support for its 23rd Annual Anti-Alcohol & Drug Tent Services on Aug. 16-18 & 21 and its Annual Community Anti-Drug March on Saturday, Aug. 20. Tent services will take place at 7 nightly and 11:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Sunday and will feature many area ministers. The march will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday. Everlasting Hope Ministries (EHM) was established in 1993 to help individuals who have fallen prey to drug and alcohol addictions. In addition to these annual events, EHM provides transportation, job searches, mentoring, and housing which includes Tony's House, a temporary shelter for individuals in transition back into the community. Everlasting Hope Ministries would like to provide a variety of items - health care products, toiletries, educational literature, t-shirts with positive healthy messages, etc. - for free to event attendees. Funds are also needed to purchase food for both events. The Anti-Drug Rally & March, "It's Time to Move," starts and ends at 10 Booker St., Georgetown, and features special characters, entertainment, food, music and games at no cost. Between 400 to 500 marchers are expected to participate. Donations to underwrite the costs of these activities are welcome and greatly appreciated. Your tax deductible donation will be used solely to purchase materials and supplies to promote the group's anti-drug message. Checks should be made payable to Everlasting Hope Ministries.
