Nar-Anon meeting

Are you struggling with the affects of a loved one's addictions? Are you in recovery and find yourself affected by another person's addictions?
You are not alone. Join us for the Nar-Anon "Pause The Insanity" candlelight support group held every Saturday at 6 p.m. at Centenarian UMC, 200 W. Market St., Laurel.
Meetings are free and everyone is welcome. Please use the ramped entrance.

Independence Day Celebration

The National Day of Prayer Task Force Outreach Committee will hold their Community Independence Day Celebration at The House of Praise for All People, 10280 Shawnee Rd., Greenwood, at 6 p.m. on Saturday, July 15.
Pastor Robert Muncie will deliver the evening's message, "Thoughts on Independence Day."Area churches will participate in the evening's patriotic prayer service. The freewill offering will be given to The House of Praise for their ministerial outreach.
A time of fellowship featuring an assortment of desserts will follow the service.
The Greenwood Memorial VFW Auxiliary Post 7478 is conducting their annual sock drive for homeless and needy male and female veterans. Auxiliary members will be present to receive donations of new socks in any color or style.
Everyone is welcome.

Open Mic Christian Night

Open Mic Christian Night will take place on Friday, July 7 from 7-9 p.m. at Compassionate Shepherd Ministries. There will be a lot of good old time gospel music and great singers such as Jack Andrews, Gloria Holland, Jim Dryden, The Three Tenors and others singers and surprises. The entrance is newly paved and there is plenty of parking at Compassionate Shepherd Ministries, located at 10771 N. Plaza Road in Laurel, across from Food Lion Plaza. Church welcomes new pastor

The Church of God and Saints of Christ of Seaford invite the community to the installation of the church's new pastor, Elder Aaron Carr. The worship and installation service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 22 at 10016 Concord Rd., Seaford.

Wellness Rally on Aug. 5

Are you ready to make some healthy lifestyle changes but aren't sure where to begin? Are you working on your goals but need a fresh burst of motivation? At First Place 4 Health Wellness Rally on Saturday, Aug. 5, at Crossroad Community Church in Georgetown, you'll find a morning of fun, fellowship, fitness and food.

Healthy food will be demonstrated by speaker Lisa Lewis, author of "Healthy Happy Cooking," as she inspires us to "bring the family back to the table." We will also discuss living a balanced life and hear testimonies from ladies who have learned how to live it.
Lunch is included. Remember to wear comfy clothes and sneakers for the "movement minutes." Better yet, come at 7:30 a.m. for the early bird exercise class with Lisa Karnish, group fitness instructor.

Mighty Fortress bible schools

The Mighty Fortress vacation bible school (VBS) will take place July 31- Aug. 4 at Christ Lutheran Church at 315 Shipley Street in Seaford from 6-8 p.m. For registration, please contact the church office at 629-9755 by July 26. All ages are welcome. Dinner will be provided at 5:30 p.m.
The Bible School for Mentally Challenged will be held at the church July 7-11 from 6-8 p.m. Dinner will be provided at 6 p.m.

VBS at Gethsemane U.M. Church

Gethsemane United Methodist Church will be offering Maker Fun Factory Vacation Bible School on July 17 20 from 6 to 8 p.m. Kids who will be 4 (no diapers please) by Aug. 31 through kids entering 5th grade this fall are welcome to attend.
Kids will have fun as they explore the Bible, sing songs, play games, and do crafts while learning that God made them, loves them, will never leave them, and has a purpose for their life.

Barbecue rib dinner July 8

Christ Lutheran Church will be holding a barbecue rib dinner on Saturday, July 8 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. The dinner will include barbecue ribs, baked potatoes, green beans with almonds, salad, tea/coffee/lemonade, and dessert. The cost is $15 for adults, $6 for children 6-12, and free for children five and under. The funds will be used to replace the old fellowship hall floor. Take outs are available. There will also be a silent auction.

VBS at Mt. Calvary UMC

Summer services at Old Christ Church

The board of directors and the membership of Old Christ Church League announce the resumption of regular summer services at Old Christ Church, Laurel. Services are held on the first Sunday of the month, through Sept. 3 at 10 a.m.
The order of worship is taken from an 18th century prayer book in use around the time Old Christ Church was built in 1771-1772. Step back in time when you cross the threshold into the church; it is not electrified, and appears as it did in 1771. Through the open windows, you will see the trees, the church yard and Chipman Pond in a very tranquil setting.
A voluntary offering will be taken for the preservation and restoration of Old Christ Church.

VBS at St. Paul's UMC

St. Paul's UMC at 32827 Old Stage Rd. in Laurel will have Vacation Bible School July 31 through Aug. 4 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. This year's theme is Backyard Roundup.
