Sussex County School Supply

campaign in 17th year
With poverty levels at 60 percent and up, there are many children in need of the basics for the start of the school year. St. John's United Methodist Church started the Sussex County School Supply Campaign in 2001 to address this need. This is the 17th year for this project, and donations have more than tripled since its inception. The hope is that the program will spread throughout Delaware and beyond!
The need is greater this year than ever before. The drive is taking place through Aug. 20. Donated supplies will be brought to St. John's to be divided and boxed for the schools to be served. School personnel then pick up the supplies, and they are distributed to qualified students by their own guidance counselors. All supplies collected in Seaford, stay in Seaford. For more information, please call Ruth Rhoades at 302-629-0789.
If you would like to make a monetary donation, please make checks payable to St. John's UMC with 'school supplies' written in the memo field, and mail to St. John's U.M.C., 300 N. Pine St., Seaford, DE 19973. The tax i.d. number is 51-0096694.

The order of worship is taken from an 18th century prayer book in use around the time Old Christ Church was built in 1771-1772. Step back in time when you cross the threshold into the church; it is not electrified, and appears as it did in 1771. Through the open windows, you will see the trees, the church yard and Chipman Pond in a very tranquil setting.
