Annual Lay Day Mt. Calvary A.M.E. Church, Concord, will celebrate its Annual Mildred G. West Lay Day, at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 8. The theme is, Let There Be Light -- More Light, and the messenger is Cheryl Hopewell, president of the First Episcopal District Lay Organization of the African Methodist Episcopal Church.

VBS at Christ Lutheran Christ Lutheran Church, 315 N. Shipley St., will hold Vacation Bible School - Splash Canyon - on July 30-Aug. 30 for kids ages 3 and up. Dinner will be served each evening at 5:30 followed by VBS from 6 to 8 p.m. Come along with us as we sing fun songs, do crazy crafts, and more. To register, call the church office at 302-629-9755.

Open Mic Christian Night Open Mic Christian Night will include a tribute to Bunky Eye on Friday, July 6 from 7-9 p.m. Join us at Compassionate Shepherd Ministries located at 10771 N. Plaza Rd., Laurel. If you have something to share about Bunky - whether through a story or song - please stop by. All singers are welcome. Willie Nelson will host/emcee and sing a few of his favorite songs. Other great singers will include Jim Dryden, Gloria Holland, Dean Adkins, Galen Queen, Connie & Allen, Virginia Tyler, Mel Adkins and Brenda Griffith and more. Everyone is welcome. Admission and snacks are always free and a love offering will be taken. Come enjoy a night of uplifting praise music and friendship. Open Mic is held the first Friday of every month through December. VBS at Centenary UMC Children in grades K-6th are invited to join us for VBS at Centenary UMC on July 9-13, 5:30-7:30 p.m. This year's theme is Adventure at Sea. Walk the plank and find gold coins. Sing songs to praise Jesus to save us from life's problems. Free light dinner beginning at 5:30. Presented by the Good News Club in Laurel. Summer services resume The Board of Directors of the Old Christ Church League announces the resumption of regular summer services at Old Christ Church, Laurel. Services are held on the first Sunday of each month at 10 a.m., June through September: July 1, Aug. 5 and Sept. 2. Officiant is the Rev. Howard Backus.

The order of worship is taken from a 19th century prayer book in use around the time the church was built. Step back in time when you enter Old Christ Church; this wooden church is not electrified and is as it was in 1771. Through the open windows, enjoy the tranquility of the area - the trees, church yard and Chipman's Pond. A voluntary offering will be taken up for the preservation and restoration of Old Christ Church. All are welcome. For more information, call 536-1384.

Centenary UMC Gospel Concerts Centenary United Methodist Church, located at 200 W. Vacation Bible School planned in Bridgeville The Bridgeville Charge will be having Vacation Bible School 2018 from Monday, July 9 through Friday, July 13 from 6 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. nightly at Mt. Calvary United Methodist Church, 28 Church Street, Bridgeville. The Bridgeville Charge has planned another exciting Vacation Bible School Curriculum entitled, "24/7, Jesus Makes A Way Everyday". Jesus told stories of how God provides every hour of every day so that we might have life and live it to the fullest. Children, youth, and adults have fun discovering that abundant life is based on a strong faith foundation, sharing in community, seeking justice, persistent prayer, and the forgiveness and love of Jesus Christ. Theme Verse: "I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly." (John 10:10, NRSV) Ages 5 to 105 are invited to join us for a fun filled week of crafts, lessons, food and fun, but more than anything, we will learn about living an abundant life in Jesus. VBS at St. Paul's UMC St. Paul's UMC at 32827 Old Stage Rd. in Laurel will have Vacation Bible School July 30 through Aug. 3 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. This year's theme is Shipwrecked, rescued by Jesus. Widowed Persons Service meeting The Seaford Chapter of the Widowed Persons Service will have its next meeting at noon on Tuesday, July 17 at the Stargate Diner in Seaford. Widowed persons of all ages are invited to attend.
